We were lucky to catch up with Noelle Tavares recently and have shared our conversation below.
Noelle, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Music. Music has always been the fuel to my creativity. I grew up an only child so I would be in my room a lot. I would listen to A-LOT of my father’s records. While he had the whole Technics sound system, I had my fisher price record player. From there, I put music on a record or cd and it would take me on this creative journey as a kid…which continues on into my adulthood. The right song or album can have create a whole collection or 8-10 canvas pieces ready for an exhibition. Music keeps my creativity alive and kicking. I also feel it places an important part in art and fashion. To me it always went hand and hand.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
hello world! I am an artist, wardrobe stylist, music lover & a dope mutha (really…I’m a mom lol). I have been a creator since the age of 6, from creating fashion magazines and having a strong love for fashion since then. I was a cut & sew designer back in 2005. I rebranded into FineTuned Inc. back in 2011 and been going ever since. I also host a monthly movie night and a seasonal closet haul event. I will be featured here in this article (thank yall so much!), my third closet haul happening in December, participating in a few upcoming exhibits in 2025 and as always collection launches throughout the year.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Do it anyways. Lol. That’s how you’re gonna learn what works for you and what doesn’t work.
Get you an OG. And what I mean by this is a mentor type figure that can guide you through your journey. I had a lot of people that I’ve met throughout my journeys in this life and I’m glad I can considered my aunt my “OG” in this life.
Be open. Don’t be close minded on things, people, places….don’t box yourself in anywhere. It keeps your mind free, being wise and optimistic.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is open minded, vibrant, someone who is open to suggestions and ideas that may not be of the norm. Someone who can “trust the vision” when it comes to ideas in a project or order that I concept and create. When a client tells me “…do your thing. I trust your vision.” THAT makes me even more excited to create this certain piece even more!
