Meet Noemi Martinez

We recently connected with Noemi Martinez and have shared our conversation below.

Noemi, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
This is a very layered question, however, it’s one that I am also very proud to answer. My resilience comes from stories about my ancestors, my lineage, my parents, and learning to rise above adversity over and over again.

Beginning with my ancestors: my maternal grandfather, Fred Meza Brewer, was a prisoner of the Japanese for several years and survived the Bataan Death March, My paternal grandmother, was married to an alcoholic and raised 4 children on her own while learning to make do with very little, My Father sued the FBI for discrimination in the 80’s with 400 other agents and they won their case. All these examples, remind me of the resiliency I come from. Both sides of my family are from Mexico. The Mexican people are hard workers and are extremely resilient.

I’ve had many moments in my career where I have had to be resilient. I’ve had people in my industry take advantage of my nieveness newly starting out in the field, I’ve had to fight for what I deserve, I’ve had to believe in myself over and over again, moving on to a new location or fresh start if the energy wasn’t feeling aligned, and trusting in Universal guidance and protection especially when being told to leave something you dreamed and created to help take care of your personal world and work-life-balance.

With the planet Pluto being in my first house in Astrology (the house of identity) one of the main qualities of Pluto is the comfortableness of death and rebirth. I’m not afraid to tear down what I’ve built if the structure is no longer serving me or the needs of my clients, but also not afraid to start over and build something completely new either.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
A little bit about my story on how I got into Chinese Medicine and Energy work: When I was pregnant with my daughter, Skye, I had a midwife and wanted to have a water birth at home. I got to 42 weeks and there were no signs of labor, so after trying everything my midwife knew how to do, she suggested trying Acupuncture as a last resort. 24 hours later I went into labor and I was fascinated and wanted to know more of why it worked. So a couple years after my daughter was born I enrolled in Chinese Medicine school at Acupuncture & Massage College. In 2009 I graduated with my bachelor’s in Health Science and a Master’s in Chinese Medicine. Now nearly 15 years later, I still love what I do and I realize Chinese Medicine was the beginning of my interest in Energy work and other modalities of healing and holistic health. I am now a certified Reiki Master Teacher, I work with the Plant medicine Cacao to help people release heaviness from the heart space, do Astrology readings and have created women’s circles for self care and healing called Love Her and Phoenix Rising. I work with crystals, essential oils and many modalities of Acupuncture, including Facial Rejuvenation, Scalp Acupuncture for neurological disorders, Esoteric Acupuncture (to help people shift their consciousness and live from their heart space), etc.

This year I’m focused on starting some Reiki Classes this year, Level I (which is about self healing), Level II which allows you to use Reiki on others (including animals, plants and remotely) and Level III which is a Mastership program to certify other Reiki Teachers.

I’ll also be getting my certification in professionally training others in Cupping. Cupping is a branch of Chinese Medicine in which glass cups are adhered to various muscles of the body to help oxygenate the muscle again. When one experiences pain in the muscles it’s because it has been caused by inflammation, blood stagnation or toxins in the blood, preventing the muscle to be oxygenated. Cupping can be an immediate relief!

I will continue to do 1:1 Cacao ceremonies and community ceremonies and events as well as do another round of the woman’s program I developed, Pheonix Rising in the fall of this year.

And lastly, I’ll continue to treat clients in my clinic at Anew Healing for preventative, chronic dis-ease care and community acupuncture.

At Anew, the heart is the center of ALL we do. I LOVE helping others and our logo represents me (as the woman/vessel) between heaven and earth, sharing my heart and my gifts.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1) Understand your industry in terms of what other practitioners are making in your area. It’s a great idea to work as a contractor in a practice because you have autonomy, but also you get to see how a practice is run. You’ll learn what you like and don’t like. Also, most places should only charge you a percentage of what you make (a commission) OR rent NOT both! Being a contractor also helps you with self-discipline, drive, direction and how to rely on your creativity.

2) Network in all ways possible when starting out in your industry. I attended every Health Fair, went to other health events and took my cards, shared my knowledge and over time, became well known in the area so started getting a lot of word of mouth referrals, which is the best marketing and it’s absolutely free! It’s important to connect with other like minded practitioners too so you can refer between each other.

3) Get to know yourself and put yourself first. The more you know your boundaries, your needs, what you require to fill your cup, the better you are able to show up for the people you will attract to your business. And don’t be afraid to change things along the way. We evolve and grow and it’s okay to give yourself permission to do so.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always looking for people to collaborate with in regards to offering Holistic, Energy or Spiritual wisdom to others. I’m always open to being a part of retreats to offer any of the modalities I work with but also collaborating with other practitioners to help groups of people in any community.

I’d love to collaborate with some other women owned or minority owned brands to be a part of my Phoenix Rising program. I envision companies that offer safe and natural products for women’s health and personal care.

I’d also love to collaborate with a cacao company to do a very large ceremony wherever there may be a disaster to help the community move forward together.
