We recently connected with Nolan Holloway and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nolan, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

As a teenager I was an introvert. My Dad was very strict so I didn’t want to stand out. Going away to college brought me out of my shell. The freedom of living on campus allowed me to make decisions that I owed. Being a good student made me popular on campus. Fast forward many years, my confidence has opened certain opportunities. But my gift of writing poetry came in my fifties.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I work a regular 9-5 but have interests outside of work. Seven years ago I was a guest on a podcast called Sizzlin Sundays where I was interviewed as an author of poetry. I then became the cohost of the show which is now a virtual talk show rebranded as The Real Level Up. Since 2012 have three published books of poetry and presently working on my fourth to be released this year. And I have a home studio to produce voiceovers and looking for opportunities.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Perseverance and consistency. I have been blessed with a gift later in life. It is never too late to pursue your passion.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

As an independent author of poetry, marketing has been a challenge. Many stating that they can promote your work, tend to be scams. And poetry is a genre that is not for everyone. So trying to find an audience has been hard work,
