Meet Noraliz

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Noraliz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Noraliz, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

There have definitely been moments in my career where I’ve been the only one in the room who looked like me, and at first, that could feel isolating. But over time, I learned to see it as a source of strength rather than something that set me apart in a negative way. It taught me to use my voice with confidence, to bring my full self into the work, and to recognize the value that diversity, in perspective, culture, and experience, brings to any space.

I’ve learned that being “the only one” can also mean being the one who helps others feel seen, heard, and understood. My background and life experiences allow me to connect with people who may not always feel represented in traditional therapy spaces. I carry that awareness into my sessions and into how I build community with other professionals.

Ultimately, I’ve found that staying true to who I am and leading with empathy and integrity has helped me navigate those spaces with confidence. Representation matters, and even when it feels uncomfortable at times, I remind myself that simply being there, and doing the work with compassion and excellence, helps open doors for others who will come after me.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

At Transformative Pathways, I provide therapy for young adults and adults who are working through trauma, anxiety, and depression. What I love most about this work is witnessing people rediscover their strength, that moment when they realize they’re capable of healing and creating change in their lives. It’s such an honor to be part of that process.

What makes this work so special to me is the connection. Every person who walks into therapy brings their own story, and no two paths look the same. I love creating a space where people feel safe enough to show up exactly as they are, no masks, no judgment. My approach is gentle but goal-oriented, using tools like EMDR, CBT, and Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients process what’s been holding them back and start moving forward with more confidence and peace.

Something new that I’m really passionate about is bringing more awareness about ADHD and PCOS. I was recently diagnosed with both, and it’s been a journey of learning, self-compassion, and adjustment. Understanding how these conditions affect energy, focus, and emotional well-being has not only helped me personally but also deepened the way I support clients. I’m excited to continue learning and using my platform to help others feel less alone and more informed about these often misunderstood conditions.

More than anything, I want people to know that therapy doesn’t have to mean something is “wrong” with you, it’s about learning to understand yourself, care for yourself, and live in alignment with your values. That’s what Transformative Pathways is all about: helping people heal, grow, and thrive in their daily lives.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’d say three qualities have been most impactful in my journey: perseverance, curiosity, and authenticity.

Perseverance has helped me keep moving forward even when challenges felt overwhelming, whether it was starting a private practice while becoming a mother or learning to navigate new diagnoses like ADHD and PCOS. My advice for those early in their journey is to embrace the ups and downs as part of the process. Growth rarely happens in a straight line, and showing up consistently, even when it’s hard, matters more than perfection.

Curiosity has been key in helping me continue learning and expanding my skills. Whether it’s exploring evidence-based therapies, understanding how trauma impacts the brain, or learning about my own health conditions, staying curious keeps you adaptable and informed. For those starting out, I’d encourage cultivating a mindset of lifelong learning, ask questions, seek mentors, and never stop exploring.

Finally, authenticity has made the biggest difference in connecting with clients, colleagues, and myself. Being true to who you are, acknowledging your own challenges, and leading with empathy allows for deeper, more meaningful relationships. Early on, I’d advise others to take time to understand their values, strengths, and boundaries, and don’t be afraid to let that guide your path.

Ultimately, these qualities have reinforced each other and shaped the way I practice, live, and lead. Focusing on perseverance, curiosity, and authenticity can help anyone create a foundation for long-term growth and fulfillment.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients are young adults who feel a bit lost or stuck but are motivated to make meaningful changes in their lives. I love working with people who are curious about themselves and willing to put in the work to grow, whether that means reflecting on patterns, practicing strategies between sessions, or taking notes to track their progress.

I also enjoy guiding clients who are ready to explore their challenges with openness and honesty. They may not have all the answers yet, but they want guidance, support, and practical tools to move forward. When clients are engaged and willing to try new approaches, that’s when real transformation happens, and it’s incredibly rewarding to watch them reconnect with their strengths and build the life they want.
