We recently connected with Noreen Griffin and have shared our conversation below.
Noreen, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I come from a huge family. I mean HUGE. I have plenty of aunts, uncles and cousins and I’m the oldest sibling of 7 children. Yes from the same parents, so we all grew up in the same house. That being said, there was always someone joking on you or pointing out your flaws. It was all done out of love and no one meant any real harm but it did mean that you had to grow a tough skin. My confidence and self-esteem started in the home but it grew through my relationships, friendships and overall view of the world. Everyone is working on themselves, everyone has flaws, and I genuinely believe that there is someone out there for everyone. So don’t hold back!! Be unapologetically yourself and the people who are supposed to be in your circle will arrive and you will shine in ways no one else can.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve always been a foodie. I love going out with friends at a cute bar or restaurant. Trying new foods and cocktails and exploring things both with friends and sometimes alone. After being asked a million times about the places I visit I decided to turn my dead instagram into a page for all of the new and exciting places that I visit.
I create fun and engaging content for NYC “things to do”. While I focus mainly on the foodie scene, shooting videos for restaurants, shops and other good eats in the New York area. I do also like to share my experiences with other fun activities in New York, whether it be a cool pop up, a spa or self care day, or an interactive event.
I love what I do because New York is an enormous city with so much out there for so many different kinds of people. I love that I’m not only able to experience different, cultures, foods and activities, but I also get to share it with my friends and followers. I love bringing exposure to small businesses as well as notifying the public about new and exciting things happening at some of the bigger establishments.
I’m always reaching out and communicating with new places and I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I definitely think that 3 major skills that you need to be a content creator are confidence, perseverance and having a thick skin.
We all know that social media is a tough place, but having confidence in yourself is a big factor. You may not have it right now but eventually you’ll keep learning and get where you want to be.
People on the internet are often very ignorant and it’s easy to criticize when you’re not the one putting in the work or there are no repercussions for your words. IGNORE THE HATERS. If you don’t see it as valid criticism, ignore it…. in all honesty Trolls are only helping your post because it creates engagement. But don’t take anything personally
Lastly perseverance is super important. 9/10 times you won’t be an overnight sensation. Don’t give up because your work isn’t getting pushed like you hoped. Take notes on what’s working and keep going and learn your craft
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for placed to collaborate with as that is the majority of my social media presence. I’m always looking for new restaurants, activities, or travel ventures that people might be interested in. For example, I’ve done a perfume making class, I’ve visited a Halloween & Christmas pop up. I’ve done spa treatments. Anything that a visiting or local New Yorker may find interesting, I’m willing to test out first lol
