Meet Noura Salman, CPA

We were lucky to catch up with Noura Salman, CPA recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Noura, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’m a first-generation immigrant from Europe who originally came illegally or as my parents said “we’re here on vacation” we just never left! HAHA! My parents are Lebanese and my sister, brother and I were all born and raised on London, England, UK. When I was 10, my parents moved us to the US in the DC area, to make a better living and support our family. My parents have never made more than $100,000 combined and I’ve never had anything handed to me. I know what it’s like to stand in line at the grocery store and see debit cards declined and checks rejected and find the landlord regularly knocking on the front door to ask about the rent getting paid. But no matter what, my parents put us in THE BEST neighborhoods, schools, and social networks. They always gave us THE BEST food and love and attention and most importantly taught us manners and to work hard for what’s important to us. So, my work ethic, whether in my businesses or workouts, stems from wanting to be my absolute BEST and make myself physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and financially able to do everything in my power to make my dreams a reality, no matter the circumstances.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
At this point in my career, I’m focused on scaling my SuperFreshies™ superfood nutrition bar line and starting the chocolate and granola bar lines. Now that I have 3 SKUs in the nutrition bar line, I’m ready to go into WholeFoods and Amazon and preset on Shark Tank!

In my CPA practice, I’m focused on getting business owners money from the government via tax credits and SBA loans and growing the investing arm of my practice. I pretty much invest the funds of my clients and pay them fixed interest rates that are 5-10x higher than what traditional banks offer. I also broker deals to get private equity and hard money to business owners.

People always ask if I’d go on Survivor™ again and the answer is yes! I would also love to go on MTV’s The Challenge™ as a number of other Survivor players have.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
LEARN HOW TO TYPE, TEXT & READ FAST. I could not do my life without these skills. I originally learned to type in high school. Everyone rushed through the typing course but I took it seriously and type over 100 WPM. This skill has helped me GREATLY in my career, businesses, and overall life!

CONSISTENTLY PUSH & STRETCH YOURSELF! Every single day, multiple times a day I will ask myself: “what is ONE MORE communication, call, task, action, etc. that I can do right now?!” I do what I can to squeeze the most out of my days by squeezing the most out of myself. Even in yoga, I stretch the extra inch on each pose and hold it just a bit longer than is instructed and feels comfortable, and I inhale and exhale seconds longer and deeper on each breath. I am just 100% present and do EVERYTHING I can in the moment I’m in. That is how progress is guaranteed. But I also remind myself that if I only do ONE significant task each day, I will have completed almost 400 significant tasks in a year.

GET YOUR 8 HOURS OF SLEEP, so that you can always give your best physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. You wouldn’t regularly drive your car around on empty, would you?! Even the fastest drivers in Nascar have to pull over and take a break to have a team fully service their vehicles. It really is all about the maintenance. Be consistent in taking care of yourself.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Making the space to finally prioritize and start my own family, is my current challenge at hand =) I’m now 40, single, and rich, instead of the typical 40, married, and poor. And now that I’ve build a sold foundation physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially, it’s time to nurture and put forth a substantial amount of energy towards this stage of my life that I’ve honestly prepared for MY ENTIRE LIFE!
