We were lucky to catch up with Odilia Chavez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Odilia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I feel like I get my resilience from my mother. No matter what happens, don’t give up, just keep going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve always been an artist at heart. Making people feel beautiful is probably the best part about being a hairstylist. I consider myself to be a “hairapist”. My chair is a safe place for my clients. Being the person who they trust to share some of their most personal life experiences with, breakups, illness, happy times. We laugh and cry together at times. Being a hairstylist is so fulfilling.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Continuing education is very important in my line of work. The hair industry is ever evolving.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I take a deep breath and jam to Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.
