Meet Ødin

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ødin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ødin, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I guess I think often about where I’m coming from and where I’m going. I’m not where I want to be yet and that gives me a great deal of resilience.

I also really like a good challenge.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello, my name is Øghenewairhe Daniel Iyanuoluwa Nakpodia or Ødin. I’m a multihyphenate creative from Lagos, Nigeria.

My work borders on many things including visual design, filmmaking, art, etc.

I’m currently working on a number of creative projects including cover art illustrations, animated digital paintings and a script for a short film I’m directing

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I feel there’s still so much of my journey that I’m yet to discover and I’m open to it all. That openness of mind is my greatest asset because no matter how much I know, I always feel there is much more to be learnt.

My main advice would be to not settle for mediocrity or limitations. There’s nothing you can’t do with the right mindset and a bit of planning.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

Procrastination. Though I wouldn’t really call it an obstacle because to me it’s just part of the process.

I make up for my procrastinating habits with a combination of forced deadlines and extra long night shifts. I’ve come to discover that I work way better at night, so there are periods – such as now – when I work all night and sleep all day.
