Odunayo , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Alao Odunayo is the Creative Director at Triple DAA Clothings and Logistics.

Triple DAA Clothings Lagos Nigeria is a Fashion brand that caters for Indigenous African inspired Designs for Men, our main focus is to beautify MEN effortlessly and with ease without breaking bank.

As a woman who make cloths exclusively for Men, it’s really a tight one for me, most times the only one in the room in the gathering of other Male designers, it’s been only me looking like me, lol, but in the face of this challenge I have deliberately worked upon myself severally, acquired more enterpreneural skills to support my journey so that I won’t be lagging behind when called upon in all angle in my professional Journey .

Triple DAA Clothings was established 2014 and we got registered under CAC in 2017

Economic Empowerment, Gender Equality, Community Development ,Creativity and Innovation are our watchword at Triple DAA Clothings

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hello 👋 I am a Fashion designer but not the usual ,I am a Female who specialises in making Cloths for Men, yes I derive pleasure making men look beautiful,

Triple DAA Clothings was borne out of the curiosity of knowing what it is like to cut cloths into pieces and assemble them to beautiful designs, after relocating to a new state in Nigeria on marriage ground, I was on the look out for a white collar Job but none was forth coming, in the process of waiting I decided to satisfy my curiosity and inquisitiveness by enrolling with the nearest Fashion designer which happens to be my Husband’s tailor, that was how the journey began, from there I developed the interest, eagerness and love for this profession , this Love grew and i gave birth to TRIPLE DAA CLOTHINGS ever since then I have been working daily to improve myself and also level up my game and skill as a Mother, Wife, Enterpreneur and a Boss in the Fashion industry, we have been able to single handedly cater for 4 international weddings in the United States Of America, and United Kingdom where we catered for the Groom, Bride and Groom’s parents, Best man n the Groom men and all the families and relatives of the Couple without getting to measure them physically all we needed was there full picture and a rough unprofessional measurements they can send, and to the Glory of God we captured the Moment Beautifully.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Persistence
Love for my skill
Eagerness to do better daily

These 3 has been a major push for me over the past 10yrs, I know what I wanted and I was ready to go for it at all cost not minding the price I have to pay, I was keen never to compromise , I love my skill, and I was ready to update, learn and re-learn everyday in my field and as an enterpreneur . I have been able to get support and trainings from Local and International organisations like FLOURISH AFRICA Business and Life skills, HONORIS ONLINE ACADEMY, Young African Leadership Initiative YALI, FATE FOUNDATION NIGERIA, CHERIE BLAIR Road to Finance Training, GOOGLE Business Resilience Programme BRP, GROWTH4Her, FCMB Export training to mention a few..

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My Husband has been my No 1 cheer leader and he’s has been a major supporter, he trusted me and never doubted me when I have to stay out late to meet up with clients or make last minute deliveries at the Airport or Clients hotels, he has been the one giving me morals when I feel exhausted, attimes I feel so engrossed with learning and upgrading but he supports me all round and makes me see reason not to give up, when work is at peak, my workers and I lock ourselves up to meet up deadlines and my husband takes care of the home and kids while am working, my Parents has also been a big supporter and my prayer warrior not forgetting my lovely Boys they are indeed the TRIPLE DAA SQUADS as I got the DAA from there Initials
