We recently connected with Olga Shatrova and have shared our conversation below.
Olga, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in the values I was taught from a young age. Growing up, my family emphasized the importance of respect, both for oneself and for others. They believed in investing time and attention in personal development rather than material possessions, and this has had a lasting impact on me. My family members consistently reinforced the idea that how you treat people reflects how you want to be treated. This principle has become a cornerstone of how I approach my work and relationships.
In my professional life, I carry forward these values by fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding. I believe in maintaining a warm, friendly atmosphere with my team, regardless of their background or level. Each person is treated with the same respect and care as a valued member of the company. When it comes to clients, I see them as honored guests. We strive to build relationships based on mutual respect and trust, always keeping their needs and perspectives in mind.
Ultimately, my work ethic is about creating a culture of respect, continuous learning, and self-improvement. This philosophy shapes not just how I lead my company, but how I interact with everyone around me.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
From an early age, I knew creativity was my calling, leading me to explore various crafts and eventually pursue a career in jewelry design. My journey began with knitting and sewing, and it evolved into a deep passion for art and design, culminating in my decision to study jewelry technology engineering. This unique combination of arts and sciences has allowed me to merge artistic craftsmanship with cutting-edge technological innovations in my work. Precision and quality are at the core of everything I create, ensuring each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
What excites me most about my work is the ability to bring beauty into the world and create pieces that resonate emotionally with my clients. Each piece of jewelry tells a story and holds personal significance, making the design process incredibly fulfilling. I take great pride in creating jewelry that not only reflects my personal values but also brings joy to my clients. Seeing their happiness fuels my passion to continue making the world more beautiful and elegant through our designs.
Speaking of news, I’m excited to announce that our brand has finally launched its website, where everyone can find something special. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, we’re thrilled to create custom pieces, which is one of our strengths. Additionally, I’m proud to share that one of our pieces recently won the CASE Awards competition by Jewelers of America, securing first place in “Jewelry $5,001 to $10,000” category and being named Best in Show! This is our first competition win since moving to the U.S., and we’re overjoyed. We have no plans to stop here and are excited for what’s to come.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
First, a strong foundational education in my field was essential. My degree in jewelry technology engineering helped me understand many aspects of the industry. During my education, I realized my passion for jewelry design over manual manufacturing. This clarity allowed me to focus on developing my design skills while still understanding the broader field.
Second, a constant desire for learning shaped my career. After my foundational education, I continued to learn through various courses and experiences in different countries. I pursued additional gemology courses from various institutions, each offering unique techniques. This exposure helped me stay ahead in a field that is constantly evolving.
Finally, learning to delegate effectively was crucial. Initially, I struggled to let go of tasks like 3D modeling, which I enjoyed. Over time, I realized the importance of surrounding myself with talented team members. This shift allowed me to focus on other important things in my business.
For those just starting out on their journey, my advice is to embrace the process with curiosity and an open mind. It’s important to choose your foundational education thoughtfully, as it will shape your understanding of the field and give you the flexibility to specialize later. However, never stop learning—explore diverse experiences and perspectives, even from unexpected places. This will keep your creativity alive and your skills sharp.
Equally essential is mastering the art of delegation. Trusting others with responsibilities can be difficult, but it allows you to focus on the aspects of your work that truly matter to you. Building a supportive team around you can make all the difference in your growth and success.
Above all, don’t let the fear of imperfection hold you back. Start where you are, with what you have, and keep pushing forward. Progress often comes through persistence and resilience, not perfection. Embrace the challenges, learn from them, and trust that with dedication, you will achieve your goals.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, we are always open to partnerships and collaborations, especially as we continue to grow and expand. We are particularly interested in collaborating with those who value unique, high-quality jewelry and appreciate designer pieces crafted with care. If you run a multi-brand store or seek new designers with a focus on one-of-a-kind creations, we would love to connect.
We are also eager to collaborate with fashion designers who can incorporate our jewelry into their collections, enhancing and transforming people’s wardrobes. Additionally, we welcome partnerships with those who can help us host events, educational sessions, and workshops to teach people about jewelry beyond just the well-known brands. Many people only know about diamonds, but there are countless lesser-known precious gemstones in the world. We would love to share this knowledge and showcase them through our jewelry.
