We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Oliver Lastname a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
OLIVER, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from the choice I made when I began my entrepreneurial career to see everything from the positive side so I could quickly navigate through all of life’s changes and not get thrown off course.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Oliver Lastname (also known as Jace) – founder of UHSTEEM, a personal development company with a twist – creating interactive products, experiences and series through entertainment designed to help creatives and dreamers and cities around the world realize their ideas. Our current show, Your Favorite Late Nite Mix, a weekly visual radio show that gives the audience new music, new insight on themselves as well as a community to explore and experience new ideas and connections.
What’s most exciting about what we’re creating is seeing the results from our audience – acting on their ideas, completing goals and bringing them into the world to help others. It’s beautiful to see what’s possible with faith and persistence and that’s what we’re here to do – if Walt Disney was in personal development.
What’s next is the launch of our new workbook, DAILY – created to develop more intentional living personally and professionally to live a more fulfilling life.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most impactful qualities and skills on my journey have been:
1. Communication – I can only venture as far as I are willing to communicate and listen and so I’ve learned to develop better ways to express myself and allow others to do the same. A great book that has helped with this is Thank You and You’re Welcome by Kanye West.
2. Pay The Price – everything I want in life comes at a price which I must consider when deciding on a goal of path to follow next. I’ve learned to lean into the uncomfortable because of it – the price that must be paid to have anything worth having. A great book that has helped with this is The Law Of Success by Napoleon Hill.
3. Forgiveness – to truly let go and be free, I’ve had to learn how to remove the past mistakes, grievances and failures where I’ve found them for a better shot at living a successful and productive life. A great book that has helped with that is Psycho-Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes – I am looking for people to collaborate with for Your Favorite Late Nite Mix as a camera operator, show producer and booking manager – based in Los Angeles.
On the side of UHSTEEM, we are looking for a marketing firm who can help us tighten up our marketing and messaging – as well as looking for social media manager for both UHSTEEM and Your favorite Late Nite Mix.
