Meet Olivia Battles Reap

We recently connected with Olivia Battles Reap and have shared our conversation below.

Olivia, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my mom. She was a single parent who raised three kids on her own, and watching her juggle everything—working long hours, managing the household, and still showing up for us—taught me the value of perseverance and responsibility. She never made excuses, and she always found a way to get things done. That example shaped how I approach my own work: I stay committed, resourceful, and focused on delivering no matter the challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a filmmaker and producer specializing in bringing stories to life through film, television, commercials, and music videos. My background spans both union and independent projects, and I love working at the intersection of creativity and logistics—making sure a vision not only looks beautiful but also runs smoothly from pre-production to the final cut.

What excites me most is the collaborative nature of filmmaking. There’s nothing like watching a team of talented people—from cast to crew—come together and create something that didn’t exist before. I’m especially passionate about telling stories that resonate with underrepresented voices and exploring narratives that spark conversation long after the credits roll.

Right now, I’m producing a short film called High Tolerance by Margot Budzyna and Christian Tasiopoulos, which has been an incredible journey. It’s a project that reflects the kind of work I’m drawn to: visually striking, emotionally resonant, and a little bit daring. I’m always looking for opportunities to partner with creatives who are ready to push boundaries and make something unforgettable.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities have been most impactful in my journey: adaptability, strong communication, and organization. In production, things rarely go exactly as planned, so I learned early on that the ability to pivot without losing momentum is crucial. Whether it’s a sudden location change or a last-minute script adjustment, staying calm and solution-focused keeps the whole team moving forward. Producing is also about connecting the creative vision with the practical steps to make it happen, which requires clear, respectful communication with directors, crew, clients, and talent. I’ve found that active listening and clarifying expectations early can save a lot of time and stress. Finally, I’ve learned that while I’m passionate about creativity, strong organization and planning are what protect that creativity on set. Detailed schedules, budgets, and prep work create the space for the magic to happen without chaos. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to say yes to challenges, practice active listening, and find systems that keep you consistent—because those habits build trust and open doors.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely—I’m always open to partnering with other creatives, producers, and brands who are passionate about telling compelling, visually striking stories. I’m especially drawn to collaborators who value inclusivity, embrace bold ideas, and bring a spirit of problem-solving to the table. Whether it’s a narrative film, commercial, music video, or a concept that doesn’t fit neatly into a box, I love working with people who are as excited about the process as they are about the final product.

If you’re interested in collaborating, the best way to connect is through my professional website or via email, where we can start a conversation about your vision and explore how we might bring it to life together.
