Meet Olumide Lawal

We were lucky to catch up with Olumide Lawal recently and have shared our conversation below.

Olumide, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

My confidence and self-esteem are deeply rooted in knowing my identity in Christ. I’ve learned to see myself the way God sees me—fearfully and wonderfully made, loved unconditionally, and called for a purpose. I remind myself of scriptures like 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says I am a new creation in Christ, and Ephesians 2:10, which calls me God’s handiwork, created to do good works.

By focusing on God’s truth rather than the world’s standards, I’ve grown in confidence and self-worth. However, I’ve realized that this is not a one-time revelation—it’s something I have to remind myself of daily . Through Prayer, surrounding myself with a likeminded community, and leaning on God’s promises have helped me develop a mindset of humility and boldness—knowing that my value doesn’t come from what I do but from who I am in Him.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a Christian wig artist, and my journey began in my freshman year of college when the Lord placed a vision in my heart. I started Majesty’s Wigs in my dorm room in 2016, not knowing how far it would go or what it would become. Over time, I’ve come to realize that Majesty’s Wigs is more than just a business—it is a ministry and a calling.

Majesty’s Wigs is a place that brings the atmosphere of peace and wholeness where our clients are served with excellence, offering high-quality products, exceptional customer service, and genuine hospitality. From the beginning, our focus has been to provide what we call the ‘Royalty Treatment,’ ensuring every client feels valued and seen.

As owner of Majesty’s Wig I became self-taught wig artist and entrepreneur 2016 and by God’s grace in 2024 I was able to take my skills and abilities to the next level by offering Bridal services for my clients. I take pride in my craftsmanship. Majesty’s Wigs is a faith-based business built on a foundation of unwavering belief in Jesus Christ.

This business is my ministry. It’s a mandate to reflect God’s love, serve His people, and ultimately win souls for His Kingdom. Through every wig I create and every client interaction, I strive to honor God and walk in the purpose He has entrusted to me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. Faith and Vision
Starting Majesty’s Wigs was a step of faith. I didn’t have all the answers, but I held on to the vision God gave me. My faith kept me grounded when challenges arose and reminded me that this was bigger than me. For those starting out, my advice is to remain prayerful and trust the process, even when the path ahead isn’t clear. Seek God’s direction daily and stay committed to the vision He’s given you.

2. A Desire for Excellence
I’ve always believed that everything I do, especially in this business, is a reflection of God. That belief pushed me to take my craft seriously from the very beginning, even when I didn’t have all the skills yet. Whether it was perfecting my wigs, improving customer service, or creating a welcoming environment, I committed to doing my best. For anyone starting out, focus on learning and growing in your craft. Excellence takes time, but the effort will set you apart.

3. Adaptability and Perseverance
Running a business comes with highs and lows. I had to learn to adapt quickly, whether it was balancing school and business or becoming a sole owner in 2018. Perseverance taught me not to give up when things felt overwhelming. My advice? Be flexible and willing to learn from setbacks. Don’t despise small beginnings; trust that each step prepares you for the next season.

Ultimately, my journey has shown me that when you pair faith with intentional effort and a teachable spirit, God will take you places beyond what you imagined. For anyone just beginning, lean into God, stay focused, and never stop improving.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been stepping out of my comfort zone and expanding my vision for Majesty’s Wigs. I’ve become more intentional about refining my skills, strengthening my business structure, and deepening my connection with clients. One major step in this journey has been branching into bridal styling—a space that allows me to bring elegance, excellence, and a touch of royalty to brides on one of the most important days of their lives.

This transition has stretched me creatively and professionally. Bridal styling requires an even greater level of precision, artistry, and an understanding of a bride’s unique vision. It’s not just about creating a beautiful wig; it’s about crafting a moment, a feeling, and a lasting impression.

Through it all, I’ve learned to embrace growth, trust God with every new opportunity, and remain committed to excellence. As I continue to expand, I’m excited to see how God uses this next chapter to serve more women and glorify Him through my work.
