We recently connected with Omar Rashan and have shared our conversation below.
Omar , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my mother. She went through immense trauma before having me and my two brothers, enduring the kind of pain that could easily push someone towards self-destructive choices like drugs. Yet, instead of succumbing, she remained strong and chose to persevere. Her strength in the face of adversity has always been a powerful source of inspiration for me.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My journey has always been deeply rooted in art, design, and technology. As a Neuro Artist and multidisciplinary creator, I focus on how art can influence our cognitive and emotional well-being, pushing the boundaries of visual expression. Through my company, Design Crate, we create comprehensive branding solutions, responsive websites, and innovative marketing materials. However, what truly sets us apart is our use of augmented reality (AR) technology to make these experiences even more immersive and engaging.
I also founded NeuroConnect, a program integrating neuroscience with creative practices to explore how art can drive personal growth and emotional healing. My work at ArtMix further reflects this, as I engage with mixed media projects that connect neuroscience with artistic expression.
Additionally, as the Co-Founder of Elevated Culture™, I’m deeply invested in using creative technology to foster positive change and build reparative ecosystems in communities. We believe in the power of creativity to inspire transformation, whether through personal development or community impact.
What excites me most is seeing how art can transform individuals and communities, and I’m constantly driven by the belief that creativity has the power to spark lasting, positive change. I recently started My YouTube channel, ‘O the Creator,’ is another platform where I will be sharing my design processes, artwork, and tips for those interested in combining creativity with cutting-edge tech. The goal is to continue pushing the limits of what’s possible, using art as a tool for change and innovation.”
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful on my journey are patience, confidence, and integrity. These qualities allowed me to navigate both personal and professional challenges with resilience and a clear sense of purpose. Patience helped me understand that success is a marathon, not a sprint, while confidence gave me the courage to take risks and trust my instincts. Integrity kept me grounded in my values, ensuring that I stayed true to my artistic vision and principles.
In terms of skills, attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and computer skills have been crucial in my work as a multidisciplinary artist and designer. The ability to meticulously refine even the smallest aspects of my projects ensures that the final product stands out, while creative problem-solving allows me to approach obstacles from unique angles. And of course, mastering the technical side of design—particularly when working with cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality—has been key to my growth.
As for knowledge, experimenting with different art forms and embracing curiosity have been central to my development. I’ve always believed in pushing the boundaries of my creativity, whether it’s through graphic design, mixed media, or neuro arts. I embrace the concept of “happy accidents”—unexpected results that lead to new discoveries. These moments of exploration play a huge role in shaping my artistic process.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to seek out mentors and leaders in the industries you want to succeed in. Be coachable and open to learning from those who have walked the path before you. However, don’t seek external validation—learn to trust your inner self and intuition. Most importantly, always show up. I’ve met some incredible people and opened many doors simply by being present. Sometimes, just showing up is all it takes to create an opportunity.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One book that has played an important role in my development is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This book offers timeless wisdom, and its teachings have deeply influenced both my personal life and my creative journey.
One of the most impactful agreements for me is “Be impeccable with your word.” As a multidisciplinary artist and designer, my work communicates messages, emotions, and stories. This agreement has reminded me to be intentional and truthful in everything I create, whether it’s through graphic design, branding, or mixed media art. Words and visuals have power, and using them with integrity is key to maintaining authenticity in both art and life.
Another agreement that resonates strongly is “Don’t take anything personally.” In the creative industry, feedback and criticism are constant. Learning not to internalize the negative and instead focus on growth has helped me stay confident and resilient. This aligns with the quality of patience I’ve cultivated throughout my journey—knowing that not everyone will understand your vision but continue to move forward regardless.
Finally, “Always do your best” is a principle I live by every day. It reminds me that no matter the circumstances, as long as I put forth my best effort, I can walk away proud of my work. In my experimentation with different art forms and the process of “happy accidents,” I’ve found that striving for excellence, while also accepting the beauty of imperfection, creates a powerful balance.
The Four Agreements has been a guidebook for maintaining balance in my artistic process, relationships, and personal growth. It has helped me stay grounded and focused on the things that truly matter, both in my art and in my life.
