Meet Omar Rojas

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Omar Rojas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Omar, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose when I got the satisfaction of my first customers telling me they loved my food, it lit a flame for me and made me so happy making something that other people loved, it made me feel like I am responsible for my food making others happy and satisfied

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

We are SD PARTY CATERING and the name says it all, we cater for parties in San Diego ! We do it with the theme of carnival food and have all of our food carts with a festive theme to make the party come to life !
From Birthdays to corporate events, who doesn’t like food like churros, hot dogs, burgers, elote, crepes, pancakes, and more !

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One of the skills that you have to have in this busy business is time management since parties start whenever they start so being prepared and ready to accommodate their times and also doing 4 events in a day your time management has to be on point.
The biggest thing I’ve been taught has been trial and error which is so important because you learn so much as you go by making mistakes but the mistakes help you learn and grow.
Lastly I would recommend building a solid foundation with a good team of people you can trust to represent what you stand for in your business

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My wife has been on this journey with me since the idea even started, she helped with the design of our first food cart, has done hundreds of events with me and made this all possible, I truly believe if she hadn’t had believed in this I wouldn’t have be able to fulfill it.
