Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omolayo Olabkde. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Omolayo , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents and amazing aunties & uncles I was privy to grow up around.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a business attorney who advises and advocates for creatives, entrepreneurs, executives, and business owners. I help ensure their ideas, work, and ventures are protected—so they can focus on growing their businesses while I handle the legal side of things.
We’ve had the privilege of working with individuals from nearly every walk of life — doctors, nurses, accountants, investors, nannies, students, and more. If it’s business or agreement-related, we’re here to help. Contact us at www.theolabodelawfirm.com
Outside of work, I’m married to an all-around amazing man and a proud mama to two incredible kids. Honestly, I love being a mom. My cousin always jokes that I was a mother even before I gave birth—and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve always had a heart for children, and my own kids..I love them so much. I’m just so, so grateful to be their mama. Sometimes I pause and think, ‘God must really rate me well to bless me with these two.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Determination
I’ve always believed in never giving up on my dreams. Since the age of nine, I knew I wanted to help and advocate for people. That passion has guided every decision and kept me going, even when the path wasn’t easy. For anyone early in their journey—stay focused on your “why.” Let your purpose fuel your persistence.
2. Relationships
This one is huge. Be a good person. Be a good friend. Build genuine relationships and never burn bridges—you never know who your next client, referral, or opportunity might come through. Character and connection go a long way.
3. Mentorship
I’m a big believer in mentorship. Find someone you admire that is doing well in your field and learn from them. I have a mentor in law, a parenting mentor, and even a marriage counselor. In every area of life, surround yourself with people who have walked the path you’re on. Their wisdom can help you grow faster and avoid common pitfalls.
Advice? Stay open, stay humble, and never stop learning—from your own journey and from those who’ve gone ahead of you.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was introducing me to Jesus at an early age. More than just telling me about their faith, they lived it out daily. I watched them walk with confidence in who they were in Christ—even when the path ahead wasn’t clear. Their faith taught me to trust God deeply and consistently. I remember so many moments, like when my mom didn’t get a role she really wanted, only for something even better to come along. Watching my parents trust God through disappointment showed me what real faith looks like. That foundation shaped everything about who I am today.
