Meet Omolola Dada

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omolola Dada. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Omolola, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I think my resilience comes from two places: my faith in God and the valleys I’ve had to walk through. There have been moments when I felt like life was pressing me beyond what I could carry, but somehow grace carried me. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t the absence of pain, it’s the decision to keep showing up in spite of it. And honestly, knowing that God is weaving even the hardest parts of my story into something meaningful keeps me grounded and keeps me going.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I run Awani Digitals, a marketing agency that helps brands find their voice and connect deeply with their audience. The most exciting part for me is watching how a simple shift in perception or strategy can change the trajectory of someone’s dream. There’s nothing quite like seeing a brand come alive and knowing you played a part in that story.

For me, every project is an opportunity to tell a story that lingers in the minds of people long after they scroll away.

Right now, my heart is set on expansion for the institution we’re building to train the next generation of marketing professionals. My dream is to see more people across Africa and beyond discover that their ideas matter, that their voices carry weight, and that their work can light up the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I would say three things have shaped my journey the most.

The first is resilience. Entrepreneurship and building in marketing is not a straight line. There are wins, there are setbacks, and there are days when you wonder if you’re really called to do this. What kept me going was the conviction that purpose sits on the other side of persistence.

The second is storytelling. Beyond tools, strategies, or algorithms, I learned that the ability to tell a story, whether about a brand, a product, or even my own journey is what makes people connect. Storytelling turns information into emotion, and emotion drives action.

The third is community. I wouldn’t be here if I tried to do it all alone. From mentors who poured into me, to peers who sharpened me, to teams who believed in a shared vision, I’ve seen firsthand that growth happens faster when you’re not isolated.

My advice to anyone just starting out is this: build your resilience by embracing failure as feedback, not as finality. Develop your storytelling muscle by sharing your journey honestly, the struggles and the wins. And invest in relationships, because who you walk with will shape how far you go.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The number one obstacle I’m currently facing is capacity in terms of building the right structures and team that can sustain growth. As both my personal brand and my agency expand, there’s a constant tension between vision and bandwidth.

What I’m doing to overcome this is twofold: first, I’m learning to lean more on delegation, building systems so that excellence doesn’t depend solely on me. Second, I’m choosing alignment over activity. Not every good thing is a God thing, and I’m training myself to discern what is truly worth my energy in this season.

It’s a daily lesson in humility, patience, and faith. I’ve realized that growth is about creating depth, sustainability, and impact that lasts.
