Meet Onyx Nobunaga

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Onyx Nobunaga a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Onyx, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

From Christ honestly…the plights I’ve had to go through in life pale in comparison to most, but nonetheless in my little reality/POV they were great obstacles ive had to overcome. You kind of have to be passionate about what you’re doing in order to endure lack of funds, unprofessionalism, and abandonment. They say experience is the best teacher and i have a lot at this point. I can say with confidence that in experiencing these plights i have grown as person, to be more empathetic, considerate and compassionate. Its helped me learn that the Lord wont have me endure more than i can handle.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My main focus since the beginning of my career has been to make amazing works. With every new idea i get to experience my artistic boundaries expanding and thats probably the most exciting part of the process. Ive been in the music game for several years and along the way Ive picked up a lot of new skills and passions. Along with mixing and mastering my own music i also shoot and edit my own videos. As of January Ive been working on an EP experimenting with a whole new sound, still sticking to my New Age vibe.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Consistency, Discipline, and Passion. All three of these goes hand in hand. It takes passion to have the discipline to stay consistent in your work. Over time you’ll perfect your craft. Putting these into practice daily will develop your workflow.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents have done for me was constantly telling me that i could do anything i set my mind too. Its really translated throughout the years wit me being able to pick up and grasp things fairly quickly if i have a little time.
