Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pablo Antinori. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pablo, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Fortunately or unfortunately, however you want to view it, my parents moved quite a lot during my childhood. Because of this movement from city to city, country to country – the act of adapting and developing new friendships in new places had to come very quickly. Luckily I was like able, so this gave me the confidence to put myself out there at an early age. I’ve never met a stranger because I was consistently trying to make new friendships with the people in the towns we’d get dropped into.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the co-founder of I and A Agave Spirits. Our products feature Socorro Tequila, Soledad Tequila and Jalisco Orange Liquor. My partner, Josh Irving, and I met while working at Southern Glazers while selling other brands of spirits. We soon realized we both had an affinity for good quality tequilas, and we jumped on our dream of starting our own in the midst of a pandemic. Luckily, our product spoke for itself and far surpassed our expectations.
The best part about what I do is the philanthropic work the company does in order to give back. With every case of tequila sold, we are privileged to be able to donate a case of potable water to orphanages in Jalisco who cannot easily access it. Doing selfless acts has been the most rewarding part of all that I do, day in and day out.
And …. Loving tequila and drinking it every day doesn’t hurt either..!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My number one advice to give those just starting out is to focus on what you are extremely good at.
Whatever you aren’t good at, find a partner who fills in that gap. You have to recognize what your skills are but in turn, what they are not. Identify the area you will succeed in and don’t be too proud to admit what you need help with. That’s the best part of working alongside someone who counter balances your skills with their own to fill in the gaps along the way. Then, you’re just a force to be reckoned with.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Finding passionate, hardworking people is a job unto itself. One of our biggest challenges that will never go away is finding amazing people who are just as passionate about the product you created as you are.
We are always looking for talent, since we are a fast growing brand. Making sure someone sees your vision and carries that in their heart for you is the ultimate goal when looking for people to hire. Making sure they truly understand why what they are selling is special and getting them to embody that is what we strive to do on a daily basis. You’re always your best advocate, but getting others to see it to, that’s where you have to really love and believe in what you are doing so that your passion cannot be missed or ignored, and they too start to want to be a part of that feeling.
