Meet Paige Messier

We recently connected with Paige Messier and have shared our conversation below.

Paige , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I truly believe purpose isn’t something you stumble upon, it’s something God reveals to you in pieces, through the people He places in your life and the experiences He allows you to go through.

For me, it started with my dad. He was a football coach, and from the time I was little, he introduced me to the world of sports. I fell in love with the energy, the teamwork, the discipline, and more than anything, the stories. I saw early on how sports could shape character, build community, and bring people together. That foundation stuck with me.

Then came college, where I was blessed with opportunities that helped me turn that passion into a calling. Whether it was reporting on games, writing features, or interviewing athletes, I started to realize that I wasn’t just telling stories, I was giving people a voice. That’s when it clicked: this wasn’t just a career. This was my purpose!

Finding my purpose has been less about chasing a title and more about walking in obedience. Every step, from my dad’s influence to college doors opening, wasn’t random. It was God, ordering my steps.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

At my core, I’m a storyteller. I work in sports media as a reporter and content creator, with a passion for amplifying voices and capturing the heart behind the game, but also just creating content. I currently the multimedia journalist/sideline reporter for the Patriot League Conference, where I cover championships, create feature stories, and work directly with sports information directors to highlight athletes’ journeys—on and off the field.

One thing I’ve always been proud of is my social media platform, The Sports Paige. I founded The Sports Paige as a space to bring people behind the scenes into my life and also of sports. I created this when I was struggling to get my first job in this industry. It’s a platform where I share interviews, reflections, and content rooted in faith, perseverance, and purpose.

Another thing I am proud of is Changing the Game, an initiative I created to empower women to break into male-dominated industries, especially sports media. It started as a campaign and has now grown into a movement. Through storytelling, mentorship, and the Changing the Game Scholarship, I’ve been able to give back to young women who are just starting their journeys. My mission is to create space for women to not only show up, but to lead, to thrive, and to rewrite the narrative.

What excites me most is that I’m still just getting started. I’m currently focused on expanding my reach—especially on social media—so I can pour into more people through my content. I’ve seen how impactful it is when you combine faith, storytelling, and a clear sense of purpose. Whether it’s through reels, interviews, or written reflections, I want my presence online to be a place of light, truth, and encouragement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Resilience
The path hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve been told I was “too much,” faced rejection from jobs I prayed over, and wrestled with self-doubt more times than I can count. But resilience, has carried me through. I’ve learned that setbacks aren’t the end of the story; they’re often where God does His best work.
Advice: Let every ‘no’ refine you, not define you. And trust that when God closes a door, He’s not denying you, He’s redirecting you for something far greater!

Authenticity
Whether I’m interviewing an athlete, creating content, or speaking on stage, I’ve learned that authenticity cuts through the noise. People are drawn to what’s real. My ability to communicate with both heart and clarity has opened doors I never expected.
Advice: Don’t chase perfection, chase connection. Speak from the heart, and don’t be afraid to show the “why” behind what you do. And practice! Write, speak, share, your voice is a muscle.

Vision
From a young age, I knew I was called to something bigger than myself. Having a clear vision, rooted in purpose, has kept me focused even when things felt uncertain. It’s why I started The Sports Paige, launched Changing the Game, and continue to dream big, even when the road feels uphill.
Advice: Get clear on your “why.” Write it down. Pray over it. Keep it front and center when things get hard. Vision gives your work direction, and it reminds you that you’re building something bigger than just a resumé.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

A book has played an important role in your development is Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. My mentor, Eric Lavey—who’s played a huge role in my growth—told me to read it, and it changed the way I communicate in both work and life. As a reporter, storyteller, and woman of faith, I’ve learned that every “no” gets you closer to a “yes”—but it’s on you to listen well, lead with purpose, and keep showing up. I think every young woman or man should read this before entering the workforce. It gives you the tools to speak with confidence, hold your ground, and let your voice be heard.
