Meet Paige Monece

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paige Monece. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paige below.

Paige, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

There is a writer who goes by the name of Noah Kagan who I recently discovered. He has a saying that goes, “Don’t overthink it, don’t overdo it, start with what you have”. This has helped me somewhat escape imposter syndrome, perfectionism, and fear.

He talks about the speed of implementation and taking massive action. In life, we want the three P’s. We want things to be perfect, and precise and we want to be praised for them. When we commit to consistency, we take away the power of perfection. There is no fear. There is no imposter syndrome. It no longer matters if something is “good” or if people like it. The only thing that matters is the commitment.

When you focus on consistency, you start to play a game that you can win. Striving for consistency shifts the focus from self-judgment (subjective) to assessing your work based on the cold hard facts (objective). “Did I do what I said I was going to do?”

You can not guarantee a win in a subjective game. But you can win at an objective one.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am the Owner of JustAnotherWebPaige where I am the Digital Designer and Creative Consultant.

I provide digital ideas, products & experiences that mainly focus on my client’s online presence in this ever-expanding creative & digital world. What their brand identity looks like to their consumers on and offline matters.

This means I’m not afraid to develop, experiment, and thoroughly work on each project, while constantly gaining new skills & abilities.

I am most proud of my customer service as a brand. People don’t focus on that aspect of business anymore and it shows. During high school and college, I had lots of customer service jobs. So, I like to implement those same standards into JAWP. I consider everything when dealing with returning and potential clients.

This helps me to broaden all implemented ideas, therefore, my clients choose to work with me on a long-term basis.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Customer Service, as I mentioned is one of the most impactful skills to have in business. I will add consistency & how to handle constructive criticism. These all go hand in hand.

Learn to be accountable for your mistakes and take feedback without feeling attacked. This should be seen as a positive on how to improve from each experience and move on.

Incremental change is powerful.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I loveeeeeee the book Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, MD, FICS.

You would think a visual designer wouldn’t struggle with visualization, but when it came to self, I did. The image I had in my mind of who I was and who I needed to become in order to reach my goals weren’t aligning.

Basically, we all have this inner tug of war. But to get rid of this you have to visualize the YOU that you want to become. Our subconscious doesn’t like change and wants to predict every single thing. The limitations you feel are just conditioning & beliefs from your past. The more time you spend relaxing, praying, meditating, and visualizing the easier it is to become YOU.

Repetition is the key! This new YOU has to feel natural in order for your subconscious to accept it as the NEW YOU.

So every day I’m visualizing.
