Meet Paisan Kapitan

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paisan Kapitan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paisan below.

Paisan, so great to have you on the platform and excited to have you share your wisdom with our community today. Communication skills often play a powerful role in our ability to be effective and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your communication skills.

Forced boldness as a young boy. As a child, I was a pretty talented piano player and singer. My parents always volunteered me to perform in front of others, even when I was scared or nervous because in many cases I didn’t even know the audience. As time went on, I got into acting and improv which forced me to be bold and throw my personality out there in vulnerable fashion. With many successful interactions, as well as many failed ones, I built confidence and learned what works and what doesn’t.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a host and music director on Hye Jams Radio—the only Armenian-American hit music radio station on earth. It’s been called the KIIS-FM of the Armenian culture. Shows are hosted in English, but the music is a combination of Armenian, English, Arabic, Greek, Russian and Latin.

In addition, I am also a voice actor, most notably known for my work in the international television show, Tranformers: Robots in Disguise.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Everything great I’ve ever done was always a result of my self confidence that pushed me to do it. I was never afraid to claim it and then pursue it. As a result of my self push, I had more successes then failures. And in those failure moments, I dusted myself off and got back in the game. I’ve learned that if you think you can do it, you can. If you doubt yourself, that mindset will hold you back.

Experience is everything. Even without schooling or proper training, you can be successful so long as your heart is set on something.

I never want to look back at my life and have more regrets than attempts. I’d rather try and fail. Thankfully, with that attitude, failure is minimal.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

The underlying strength I have in all of my efforts is directly from God. He game me my gifts. He planted the desires of my heart in me. It’s up to Him and keep me strong and open the doors to my divine destiny.

We are not strong enough to do life alone. We need God to be our strength. The best thing I ever did was make Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
