Meet Pam Zamora

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pam Zamora. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Pam, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?

I have always had a life of trials and tribulations. I was born in Peru and came to the U.S. at a young age. It was hard for me to adapt to my new surroundings, seen as different and strange by others. Trying to fit in was difficult for me. I felt like an underdog at most times. Music is my outlet. I would be at home listening to music, writing music and singing along to my favorite bands.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the singer of a female-fronted Deftones tribute band called Engine’s Drone, and the owner of Deadly Z Productions. A live music event planning company that brings local talents and local tribute bands to local venues in Southern California. I love being on stage and performing in front of a crowd. I started to get back into music three years ago and at first I was scared, but I learned to embrace it and really let loose and have fun with it. I look forward to doing more shows next year and looking forward to producing more shows with local bands with my production company.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

What was most important in my journey was getting over my fear of the stage. For years, I had stage fright, and I was scared to sing in front of people, but after a bit of practice and experience, I was able to make the stage my own. This journey led me to new friends and adventures.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

I would say my biggest challenge is facing the unknown. Sometimes new things can be scary and hard to get used to, but I look forward to what the future holds.
