We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paola De Jesús a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Paola, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’ve developed a strong sense of resilience from a young age. Growing up, I found a deep passion in caring for stray animals. While some couldn’t be saved, I always tried to offer them warmth, compassion, and dignity. Many others made remarkable recoveries, which taught me that even in difficult situations, hope and persistence can lead to beautiful outcomes. I believe in staying positive, trying my best, and planting small seeds of love and kindness—because those are often what lead to meaningful change.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Paola De Jesus, and I’m the founder of Bimini Aesthetic Jewelry, a brand that celebrates individuality and meaningful design. My mom Lupita creates handmade high-end jewelry, and I’ve grown up immersed in the artistry, care, and craftsmanship that goes into every piece. Inspired by her work, I focus on custom jewelry, helping clients bring their personal stories and style to life through unique, personalized designs.
What excites me most about what I do is seeing how a piece of jewelry can become a part of someone’s story—whether it’s a gift, a personal treat, or a statement of self-expression. Each custom creation is designed with intention, ensuring it’s not just beautiful but deeply personal.
Right now, I’m especially excited about expanding our customizable collection, giving clients even more options to create jewelry that reflects who they are. From delicate pendants to bold statement pieces, our work blends artistry with individuality.
At Bimini Aesthetic Jewelry, it’s about more than accessories—it’s about craft, connection, and expression. Whether handmade by my mom or customized through my designs, every piece tells a story, and I love helping people make it their own.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three most important qualities in my journey have been creativity, resilience, and connection.
Creativity has been at the heart of everything—whether it’s designing custom pieces or finding ways to bring a client’s vision to life. For anyone starting out, I’d encourage you to keep nurturing your creativity by experimenting, staying curious, and not being afraid to try new approaches.
Resilience has been key, especially in entrepreneurship. Building a brand takes patience, persistence, and the ability to keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned. My advice is to embrace challenges as opportunities to learn—they often end up shaping your path in ways you didn’t expect.
Connection has made the biggest difference in how meaningful this journey feels. Listening to clients, understanding their stories, and creating pieces that resonate with them has taught me the power of building authentic relationships. For those early in their journey, I’d say focus on truly understanding the people you want to serve—your work will be stronger and more impactful because of it.
At the end of the day, it’s about blending passion with perseverance and remembering why you started.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My whole family has been the most helpful companion in my journey.
My mom and dad has always been my anchor in life. They taught me resilience, the importance of hard work, and how to stay grounded through every challenge. Their guidance and unconditional support have shaped the way I approach both life and business, reminding me to always stay patient, grateful, and strong.
My husband, Chris, who is currently deployed, has been my biggest supporter even from afar. His encouragement and belief in me give me the strength to keep pushing forward, especially during the toughest moments. Knowing that he’s cheering me on, despite all that he’s handling himself, is one of the most powerful motivators I carry with me.
Together, we’ve shaped not just my journey as an entrepreneur, but also the person I’m becoming along the way.
