Meet Paris Heinen

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paris Heinen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Paris, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

When I left my job at Weight Watchers and launched my own Health and Wellness Coaching business, I faced a tough battle with imposter syndrome. One of the biggest challenges was charging what I was truly worth. I reached out to other entrepreneurs, who offered invaluable advice. First, they reminded me that I had 20 years of experience in the weight loss industry—I knew my field inside and out. I understood the journey because I live it; having lost 65 pounds myself, I walk the walk.

But the most impactful advice I received was to never stop learning. Four years later, I’m still committed to that principle. I now hold coaching certifications in 13 different areas, including Goal Setting, Professional Life Coaching, Master Life Coaching, Happiness, Meditation, and Health and Nutrition, just to name a few. I stay current with every diet trend and the ever-evolving nutrition industry, ensuring that I’m always equipped to support my clients with the best, most up-to-date guidance possible.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I was a Top Leader for Weight Watchers for 20 years and then 2020 changed everything. I began questioning the changes the company was making and decided to it was time for me to make changes and Always On Your Side Coaching was born.

Continuing Education
During the rapid changes brought on by COVID in 2020, I decided to deepen my coaching expertise. That summer, I earned certifications in Health and Nutrition, Life Purpose, Goal Success, Happiness, Meditation, Self-Care, and Master Life Coaching. I now offer personalized virtual coaching and group sessions enriched with thoughtful discussion starters.

My Personal Journey
I am an accomplished coach and author of Always On Your Side: Power of 13 – Your Common Sense Guide to Health and Wellness. Like many, I experienced post-wedding weight gain and embarked on a mission to lose those extra pounds. I found success with Weight Watchers, losing 55 pounds, but like many, I briefly veered off course. In 2000, I recommitted and lost 65 pounds, a transformation that changed my approach to health and wellness. For over two decades, I’ve maintained my weight within 2 pounds of my goal—a testament to resilience and dedication.

My story is one of balance and imperfection. I still enjoy chocolate martinis and burgers, but I’ve mastered the art of enjoying indulgences while maintaining health.

My Coaching Style
With more than 23 years of experience, including 20 years as a top coach with Weight Watchers, I understand the weight loss journey and the mindset it requires. My coaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that everyone has the potential to live a healthy lifestyle. I take a no-nonsense approach that helps clients move past excuses to achieve their goals with clarity.

My coaching focuses on balanced nutrition, portion control, reduced sugar, and moderation of saturated fats. I introduce the “Always On Your Side POWER 13”—thirteen practical principles that seamlessly integrate into daily life for lasting health and wellness. Clients have the freedom to choose their dietary path, supported by a strong connection between mindset and action. I help dismantle obstacles and highlight strengths, recognizing that everyone’s journey is unique. Together, we address challenges with simplicity, asking, “How can you make this easier for yourself?” We break through self-imposed limits and embrace transformation, viewing perceived barriers as opportunities for growth.

What Always On Your Side Coaching has to offer: Coach Paris is a Health and Wellness Accountability Coach. Our Services are all virtual so we can work together no matter where you live. We offer weekly support groups on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Coach Paris also offers One on One coaching in Goal setting, Health and wellness, Career. We are excited to be offering a 60 minute goal setting session to get ready for 2025.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I understand the journey because I live it every day. I know the pitfalls, the mindset challenges, and the steps it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

When starting your own business, just get started. Don’t overthink it, and remember that everything doesn’t need to be perfect. Your business will always be a work in progress, so take the first step and make adjustments as needed.

Always have a goal and a clear reason for that goal.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

I have 2 books a read each year. They are my Entrepreneur Bibles if you will.
