Meet Paris Monet

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paris Monet a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Paris, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Growing up a plus-size girl, I had to learn early how to navigate a world that often didn’t reflect or embrace my beauty. Instead of shrinking myself, by the age of 12, I had I leaned into self-expression through fashion, beauty, and creativity. These were my my outlets, not to hide who I was, but to highlight all that made me unique. Doing my makeup, dressing in bold styles, and embracing my own aesthetic became acts of self-love and rebellion against the box society tried to put me in.
But most importantly, I gained my confidence through knowing who I am. I’m a child of the Most High, and I learned at a very young age, I was created perfectly in His image and nothing about me is a mistake. Even now, I speak life over myself daily through affirmations. I intentionally remind myself that I am worthy, beautiful, and powerful. Confidence doesn’t come overnight, but it does come when you start believing in the truth of who you are.
I strive to be love and light in every space I enter, honestly, and what’s greater than that? When you choose to lead with love and carry light, it naturally builds the kind of confidence that isn’t dependent on the world’s validation, but rooted in something unshakable.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m the founder of The Pink Playhouse, a beauty and wellness brand designed to be a soft landing place for women to feel safe, seen, and celebrated. As a makeup artist and creative, I specialize in helping my clients feel confident and beautiful, both with and without makeup. While I offer professional makeup services, I also create experiences that allow my clients to reconnect with their inner self, express themselves freely, and heal through play, color, and community. From my cosmetic line, The Pink Playhouse Cosmetics, to pop-up events and workshops, everything I do is rooted in love, courage, and creativity.
What makes my brand special is that it’s more than beauty, it’s ministry. It’s therapy. It’s soul work. I use makeup and self-expression as a tool to uplift others, especially those who’ve had to fight to see their own worth.
Right now, I’m expanding my cosmetic line and participating in expos and events, including the Ultimate Women’s Expo. I’m also working on getting my products placed inside retail spaces and boutiques to continue scaling The Pink Playhouse. I want people to know this isn’t just a business, it’s a movement. A safe space. A reminder that you can rewrite your story, no matter where you come from.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I have learned three factors in my journey. To sustain success, you must be intentional and resilient, creative, and learning the balance of rest and self care is essential.
Resilience has carried me through the many uncertain seasons. As a Black, plus-size woman, and a first-generation entrepreneur, I’ve had to face many internal and external challenges that could have stopped me. But I’ve learned that it’s important to stay rooted in your purpose when life tries to shake you. When you are intentional, you show up even when you’re unsure, and choosing to believe in your vision, even when no one else sees it yet. Being intentional means not moving just for the sake of movement, but making sure every decision, every partnership, and every message aligns with your values and long-term goals. It takes discipline and self-awareness, but it keeps your brand authentic and your impact lasting. My advice to anyone starting out is this: prepare for challenges, but also prepare to win. Your ability to rise again and again will define your journey more than any setback ever could.

There’s freedom in creativity. Creativity gives my brand its heartbeat. It’s how I transform beauty into connection, makeup into empowerment, and products into pieces of joy. Creativity isn’t just about being artistic, it’s about being courageous enough to dream and execute new ideas even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. To grow creatively, stay open. Try new things, follow your curiosity, and don’t be afraid to break the mold.

But none of what I do would be sustainable without rest and self-care. I’ve learned the hard way that rest and self-care are not luxuries, they are necessities. Hustle culture will make you feel like you have to go nonstop, but the truth is: your peace and presence are part of your power. The most aligned and impactful version of yourself comes from a place of rest, reflection, and restoration.Make space to recharge your body, mind, and spirit. That’s where your best ideas and breakthroughs are born.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I have to shoutout my sister, my best friend, and the face of The Pink Playhouse, Mama Dee. She has been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and grow both personally and professionally. She has been my biggest and most consistent supporter from the very beginning. Whether it’s brainstorming power moves, navigating difficult decisions, or offering sound advice, she’s always someone I can consult with and trust. Her wisdom, intuition, and resourcefulness have guided me in countless ways, and if she doesn’t have the answer, she never hesitates to point me in the right direction.

While I’m still in search of an official business mentor, my sister has played that role in so many ways. She pushes me to grow, holds me accountable, and pours into me with love and intention. I’m beyond grateful for the way she continuously invests in my development and in the heart of The Pink Playhouse.
