Meet Parth Desai

We were lucky to catch up with Parth Desai, CEO of Vustra where he balances day-to-day functions and strategy. He was the first person in his family to attend and graduate college, in a recent conversation with him we learned more about his journey.

Hi Parth, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love it if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is a tapestry woven from various threads of influence. First, my family placed a significant emphasis on hard work as a core value. Witnessing my parents navigate challenges with resilience and determination left a lasting impression on me. I soon realized that when I loved to do something I spent hours doing it, intensely focusing on the task at hand. In the end I was happy being completely merged with my work. My work ethic is intertwined with a personal philosophy that sees each task, no matter how small, as an opportunity for growth and contribution. These experiences, coupled with a genuine passion for what I do, propels me to consistently invest the time and effort needed to excel.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about your inspiration for Vustra before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you.
After watching “True Cost to Own,” I was inspired to create a fashion label with organic cotton for safer, sustainable clothing. Over brunch discussions, my group realized there was a gap in the market for stylish yet eco-friendly fashion, especially for men. One of the ways we chose to lead with values when creating and defining Vustra is by minimizing plastic use in all of our packaging.  Vustra minimizes plastic in packaging by collaborating with partners, ensuring over 90% recyclable materials. We prioritize organic cotton, using GMO-free seeds and upcycled materials to reduce water consumption and waste. Recycled polyester is also integrated in our collections to lessen environmental impact and dependency on the oil industry.

Do you have any new pieces being launched in the coming weeks?

Yes, we think you’ll especially enjoy our new Spring and Summer Collection launching in April. I invite you to celebrate the spirit of summer with pieces that showcase impeccable craftsmanship and embody the joy of the season. You’ll find pieces that make a statement with our textured knit pique polos, playful prints in short and long sleeve prints, and breathable linens – your perfect companions for a season filled with fashion-forward adventures.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three pivotal elements that shaped my trajectory are a passion for creativity, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to authenticity. Infusing creativity into every aspect of my work allowed me to establish Vustra’s distinct brand identity and resonate with a diverse audience. Attention to detail became a hallmark, ensuring quality and precision in all our products. Authenticity, the genuine expression of the vision and values, fosters a lasting connection with customers.

To those starting their journey, my advice is to cultivate a genuine passion for your craft. Let creativity be your guiding force, infusing authenticity into every endeavor. Develop an acute attention to detail; it’s often the small things that make a significant impact. Embrace a continuous learning mindset and stay true to your unique perspective. Your journey is a canvas – paint it with authenticity, precision, and a relentless pursuit of your creative passion.
