We recently connected with Patranya Bhoolsuwan and have shared our conversation below.
Patranya, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose in helping others find the confidence and the skills to tell their stories. Before I launched my own business, I was a TV news reporter for over 2 decades. I now use my storytelling and on-air skills to work as a media trainer/coach and that’s where I have found my true joy in helping others discover their unique perspectives and sharpen their communication skills so they can amplify their stories to the world.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I feel like my business allows me to be a cheerleader, supporter, and coach to so many different types of clients. I do everything from hosting conferences for over 10,000 people to coaching clients one-on-one on how to amplify their brand in their network and community.
As a woman of color, I am also very passionate about helping people who you don’t often see on TV become more confident in what they bring to the table so they can become their industry’s experts. Everyone has a story to tell and my passion is to make sure they know it and know how to do it well!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience, positivity and a strong work ethic.
My advice is to do what you love and never stop being a student when it comes to your craft. Use your competition as motivation and alway focus on providing value for your clients.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Asian parents are known for pushing their kids to follow a certain career path that is deemed to be more stable & profitable, like becoming a lawyer or doctor. My parents had never fit that stereotype and always supported my dream, even allowing me to come to the USA by myself from Thailand when I was just 18 years old. It was not until years later when I truly grasped the fear they likely felt to allow me leave home and go so far away at such a young age. However, because of their sacrifice, I am able to live the life of my dreams today.
