We were lucky to catch up with PatriceLIVE recently and have shared our conversation below.
PatriceLIVE, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I am sure my purpose found me. Some of us have to find our purpose, and others have been covered by our purpose from day one. I was born with a life-threatening case of pneumonia and spent the first weeks of my life hooked up to a ventilator. At age seven, I was suddenly paralyzed from a freak accident. But I ran track in high school and wear heels when I perform on stages now.
I could give you a long list of other mind-blowing examples, but ultimately, I am called to beautifully demonstrate resilience despite resistance. I am called to elevate the energy in every room to help direct others toward God’s guidance and love. The vehicle I’ve been given is entertainment, but the mission is the same—to be a tried-and-true vessel.
Sometimes, it isn’t as beautiful as one may believe. It means I must endure many things, often before others and alone, to be a reputable source. But I am called.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
The (4) M’s are the pillars of my life — Mission, Motherhood, Music, Marketing. I am a singer-songwriter, band leader, and corporate marketer, and I am the mother of two exceptional children. Post-pandemic, I leaned further into the marketing and motherhood arms of my life, but I am excited to make my return to music in late 2024. I will ramp up with a few festival performances this summer, singing the national anthem at a WNBA game and serving as a performance coach for some amazingly talented youth performers.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Focusing on your “aim”, being coachable, and putting in the extra work are the three areas that are vital to success and endurance throughout the journey.
Your “aim” encompasses the clarity in knowing who you are and fully understanding your purpose. The cross-section of these two things, broken down into goals and actionable items, creates an “aim” for how you operate and live your life. This is vital, especially when you understand the different challenges you will encounter and the variance of voices that will be in your ear on your path to success.
At the same time, we all start off as novices and it is vital to connect with professionals who can teach the skills and share information to help you to be the best you can be; however, if you do not have a mindset that allows you to be coached by others, you can miss the opportunity to be your best.
Clarity on your aim and being coachable will only work when you apply hard work. Hard work doesn’t always mean harsh work and never resting. It does mean being strategic with how you spend your time and pushing yourself to do more than the average person. That may mean getting an extra job to finance a project or waking up an extra hour early to work out.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am crafting a plan to create resources, financing, coaching and job opportunities for creatives looking to make a living from choosing non-traditional careers. I need creatives in film, television, social media, music, and beauty who want to help to automate production and work for each other.
