Meet Patricia Aguilar

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Aguilar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Patricia, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I think the confidence came from my father, he always said you walk with your head up looking forward. Never second guess yourself, if you fail pick yourself up and keeping moving forward, learning and growing. I tend to walk to my own beat, i don’t follow fashion trends, don’t compete with anyone, if you don’t worry about any of the superficial things in life you life longer.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a treat maker. I make caramel apples, churro cheesecakes, and pretty much any treats for different events.

I began my business about 6 years ago, i was searching for treat maker for my nieces birthday. The prices i received were ridiculous. I decided to give it a try and make my own treats, fast forward to now, im thankfully booked months in advanced, and sell at pop ups, and keep growing.

I pride myself on keeping my prices low while still making a profit, to keep my business afloat.

Personally i like being inspired and creating. A lot of my customers trust me to create something unique for them and having that trust just makes me want to do my work at 150 percent.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning to take constructive criticism, sometimes saying no is okay, and my treats may not be for everyone.

The best advice i can give to new treat makers is, Do you! Meaning don’t try to be better or like the popular treat makers. Everyone’s journey is different

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Being a treat maker, a fulltime employee, a wife , mom, and daughter is a lot of work and sometimes taking on to much can lead to burnout. The best advice i can give is, it’s okay to say no. You don’t have to take every order request. When i feel overwhelmed i decline some requests, i book a weekend getaway with my family and i also take a day for myself.
