Meet Patricia McPherson

We were lucky to catch up with Patricia McPherson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Patricia, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story.

I have recognized in my life that I have been fortunate to be a person that people love. From my family to my friends, peers, colleagues, teachers, I have always felt loved.

I have always been a light, fun loving positive, heart-full spirit. It’s my nature. When I was a kid my school teachers would describe me as bubbly, outgoing and positive. I believe I still carry these qualities.

I have been through adversity, hardships and many challenging periods in my life but I’ve always found a way to trust my Self and my spirit to make the right choice. Even if this comes after solitude, grief and pain. The light always comes back.

I now know that my yoga journey has everything to do with this conviction. It consistently teaches me to remain authentic even when I’m being challenged or have failed. It has taught me that I am enough and I have every thing I could ever want out of Life. That all of that is up to me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I have been on the yoga journey for 15 years now. 11 years as a full time instructor and I was fortunate to have teachers share with me that yoga is a natural progression. Learning what you love about yoga takes time and this dedication will determine what and how you teach. I stumbled upon yoga nidra in my 2nd year of teaching and I can honestly saying nothing has impacted me, inspired me more or is more fascinating then yoga nidra and yin yoga.
As much as yoga changed my life I truly believe the conditioning of yoga allowed the gifts of yoga nidra & yin to really penetrate & transform my practice, my teachings. And has really changed my whole trajectory in regards to what lights me up and how compelled I am to share it.
I come from a time in my life where I got into 3 car accidents in 3 years which got me practicing yoga in the first place.
Yin healed my heart and Yoga Nidra healed my psyche. The therapies of these practices have had a deep impact on my life journey so much so I can’t help but create and share these practices.
I am currently offering a 40 hour Yin Yoga Training in May 2024 and a 40 Hour Yoga Nidra Training in June 2024.
I offer workshops on yoga nidra frequently and have also started a seasonal Yin Series on YouTube for people to begin cultivating a practice at home.
This is where my heart is. Helping people realize that relaxation is a gift, an art form and once you invite it into your life you’ll never see how you relax the same again!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Curiosity Patience
Discipline

The curiosity to ask questions, research, learn from your teachers and contemplate what you’re learning. This way you will find your wisdom and a passion for your work.

Patience is needed because it takes time to love what you do and be good at it! We oy teach what we know so take your time to learn so you can share from tour own life experience.

And the Discipline to apply what lights you up into your life so others can trust you to apply it to theirs.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Gene Keys – Richard Rudd Women Who Run With The Wolves Dr Clarissa
Yoga Nidra – Swami Satyananada Saraswati

The Gene keys speak to your heart. It reconnects you to your essence. It helps you understand why you are the way you are. This book made me weep because it speaks truth. Truth we ignore, we hide. It will inspire one to reintroduce one self to your Self without fear or judgement.

Women Who Run With The Wolves speaks to a woman’s inner knowing. It teaches that as women we are gifted and special humans that have the power to heal ourselves and the world around us.

Yoga Nidra teaches you how to approach relaxation as a skill. It teaches you how to use yoga nidra to reset the nervous system, cleanse the spirit and create the life of your dreams.
