Meet Patrick Moss

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patrick Moss. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patrick below.

Patrick, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by reading and research. Ideas are developed and I envision an outcome. The ideas comes to life after careful evaluation and execution. In the beginning, I wanted to stand out so I created to concept of a diverse wardrobe to capture the attention of my potential clients. I wanted to be authentic with my presentation.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
First, I am a Black Santa Claus portrayer. I was recruited by an agency my first year and developed a passion for the character. That year was great but I felt I did not get enough exposure. As a result, I became independent and created my own company to market myself. That is when Black Santa EFX was born. What I feel most exciting is the visit with guests during the Christmas holidays both young and old. What is special about portraying Black Santa is my colorful wardrobe. It consists of fabric shipped directly from Ghana, West Africa. My concept was to embrace and capture the essence of Black culture.

Secondly, the idea of constantly evolving and to grow my brand was beginning to sink in. I decided to write a children’s book. In this book, I wanted it to be inclusive. In part because many people around the world celebrate Christmas. A Best Friend’s Christmas has five characters with two of the same race and the other three each represent a different culture. In the process of drafting the first book, a second idea came to mind. I am writing the follow up to the first.

Lastly, I have finally launched my very own website. Check it out! www.blacksantaefx.com

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One quality I possess is time management. I am well with logistics and planning. I also have strong organizational skills. These traits play an important role in operating Black Santa EFX, LLC. As I grow, the discipline alone keeps me grounded. The only advice I can offer to those who may be early in their journey is to press forward. Create a game plan and take action. Only you know your dreams and the sky is the limit.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
The challenge I am facing now is building a fan base and marketing my first children’s book. I have a strong and supportive social media following and it is slowly growing.
