We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paul Bestolarides. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paul below.
Paul, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
For me, purpose is an ongoing exploration with no definitive end. That said, every story I have delved into has reshaped my understanding of this question upon completion of the project. There’s a natural curiosity in exploring subjects that hold personal meaning, and any experience can shift your perspective.
I have always been passionate about storytelling, and I find the visual medium to be a universal language where imagery has the power to deeply connect with viewers. Through my studies in literature and art, I immerse myself in simulating reality, transforming ideas from paper to screen. Sketching brings my thoughts to life while writing fosters collaborative creativity that continues to refine and shape my purpose.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I come from a Greek lineage and grew up hearing the language in my grandmother’s home and was fortunate enough to travel to Greece at a young age. It was during this time that international travel sparked my interest, enriching my perspective and enhancing my artistic approach to photography, history, and global viewpoints. Educationally, I pursued a Master’s degree in Humanities. That achievement also opened doors to teaching. I am now a part-time professor for college classes that not only cover filmmaking, but Civilizations and Humanities.
My focus is bringing stories to life while playing the creative roles of Directing, Writing, and Producing. I am also a videographer for hire and continue to explore live-action and documentary subjects. There is nothing better than getting excited over the feeling of creating something from nothing. Exploring new subjects with each project keeps me going.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I listen and can be in tune with the moods and feelings of others, which supports a collaborative approach to directing.
My advice to those early in their journey of creativity is to be authentic to yourself by developing your skills. Everyone brings creativity. We live in an age of technological advancement. Many do not realize the true trials of filmmaking—it’s a journey through an unpredictable storm. While evolving technology may help navigate the complexities of this storm, it can point the way, however cannot feel the wind.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My parents primarily guided the course forward. Relationships with Cast & Crew contributed unique skill sets and perspectives that truly cemented my visions. In this respect, I would like to share my upcoming feature-length film.
I would not be anywhere without an exceptional cast & crew. Each member contributes to the project in various ways.
Our recent feature film is about a young nurse who experiences the death of one of her patients, leading her to take a break from the hospital and become a private duty nurse for an actor battling illness. Together, both women must learn to understand each other to survive in this thrilling horror story set in Lodi, California.
We look forward to continued success with this project. Thank you for the opportunity and platform to illustrate our creativity.
