We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paul Sajbel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Paul , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents, they were a huge influence on how I was raised. In this world I was taught that you are only as strong as your word. When you give someone your word it’s as good as gold so if I say I will have a project finished by a certain date I better make sure I have it doner before or by that date.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hey guys my name is Paul Sajbel I’m a photographer Based in Colorado, the reason I don’t specify I location is because I travel for work and am willing to go wherever needed for work. I was born and raised in Colorado and have lived in almost all 4 corners of the state. I specialize in both action and concert photography, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do your project. I’m very driven and a hard worker if we get in contact about your upcoming project idea I promise that I will make the best possible project for you. You can find contact information on my website

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three areas that were most impactful when I was starting this journey are,
1.) Lighting
2.) Rule of thirds
3.)People skills
The reason these were major building blocks for me was because I had to learn everything myself. My advice for anyone who wants to get into the photography game is the same as Nike “just do it” I know this sounds cliche but as Wanye Gretzky said you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Everyone is afraid to fail but you can’t succeed without failing so don’t be afraid to fail I have failed more times than I can count but that won’t stop me from attempting to be the best that I can be.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I am looking for people to collaborate with, I honestly would love to work with anyone who needs help, This could mean that you have a rough idea of what you want to do or even have it 100% planned out either way I would love to take that idea that’s floating around in your head and turn it into a reality.
