We recently connected with Paul Wheeler and have shared our conversation below.
Paul, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My quest began when I was a young man, just 17. I was frustrated and left home between my junior and senior years of high school looking for guidance, direction, mentors and my life’s calling and passion. I met many people, worked different jobs and traveled to many places. I learned many things but three things stood out to me.
The first thing I learned was that I wanted to be happy. I found that the happiest people I encountered were people making a difference in the lives of others. They were giving back and helping out. They were focused on more than just their basic needs. I wanted to be like that. In my travels I had met a great deal of people in need of a helping hand. Many of them were young people needing guidance and direction. I decided at that moment to be very productive, invest my money and save 50% of everything I ever made in the first half of my life. Then I could spend my later years championing the education and guidance of young families and children to allow them to live the best lives possible. I dreamed of donating millions of dollars to these causes.
The second thing I learned was that I needed to be educated and be an expert in whatever I did. Experts were able to effect the most change. Knowledge and the use of great knowledge will still change the world. So I went to college, paying my own way. I became a lifelong learner and still read 100+ books a year. My areas of focus were and still are being a better business owner, better husband, better father and supporting our community through charitable giving. As of 2025, we have two foundations established. One is through our Accent Realtors Giving Fund and the other is through our family foundation.
The third thing I learned was that in order to accomplish these goals, I had to be a business owner. Being a business owner allowed me the leverage to create something bigger than I could on my own. If I and my team of experts served enough people exceptionally well, we would have the funds to create my vision of a charitable foundation.
I arrived in Tulsa with $200 to my name and started on my life’s work. I had three jobs within a week and had enrolled in college. Luckily, I only needed four hours of sleep a night. While still in college, majoring in business, I bought a few properties as a way to start creating wealth for my vision to give. I found that the buying process and later the selling process was less than desirable and had many flaws. A light bulb came on and I thought “Aha, there must be a better way.” One year later, Accent Realtors was born and became a vehicle for achieving our dream of the charitable foundation. From there, I created the best, most productive experience possible for our clients with a team of talented, passionate people and a vision of a greater purpose. Our clients hire us because we are experts in real estate. They also know that by doing business with us they are helping reach the vision to better our community and affect the lives of local families, children and charities. Our clients get the best real estate team in town and get to be heroes for our community and those in need.
Thanks for letting me share.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
At Accent Realtors, our work goes beyond simply helping people buy and sell homes. We focus on building long-term relationships and serving the Tulsa community in meaningful ways. You can check out our ongoing pursuit of our mission, vision and values at https://www.accentrealtors.com.
One thing that makes our brand special is that we consistently host client and community events throughout the year, and we’re intentionally expanding that involvement even further. Our next event is our March 14 Shredding Event, where community members can bring documents for secure, on-site shredding, with this year’s event benefiting Little Light House, a Tulsa non-profit serving children with special needs. Everybody is welcome and we would love to know you’re coming. Register at https://www.accentrealtors.com/shred to win prizes on the day! Each Thanksgiving, we also show appreciation to our clients by giving away pies as a small but heartfelt thank-you. Looking ahead, we’re excited to partner with more Tulsa 501(c)(3) organizations and deepen our local impact.
Professionally, we’re committed to constant improvement. We recently launched a new website with expanded functionality, including free automated home valuations, saved searches, advanced property search tools, and customizable listing alerts so clients can search on their own terms and schedule. Through it all, we emphasize family values and life balance, both within our team and in how we serve our clients, because success in real estate should support a great life, not replace it.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most impactful foundations in my journey have been keeping family first, protecting my health, and intentionally choosing a joyful, balanced life while pursuing professional goals.
It’s easy early on to think success is purely about hustle, credentials, or technical skill, but long-term effectiveness comes from stability at home, physical and mental well-being, and genuine enthusiasm for what you do. When your priorities are grounded in family and relationships, your decisions tend to be clearer and more values-driven. When you stay healthy through rest, exercise, and boundaries, you gain the stamina and clarity needed to perform at a high level. And when you allow room for joy and gratitude in the process, you avoid burnout and build a career that’s sustainable, not just impressive on paper.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to build your life before you try to build your resume: invest in your relationships, develop healthy routines, and choose work that aligns with your values. Skills can be learned and markets will change, but character, health, and perspective are the multipliers that make everything else work better and last longer.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We’re eager to work with more Tulsa 501(c)(3) organizations this year as part of our commitment to expanding our charitable presence across the community. I have a particular love for educational causes that benefit kids throughout Tulsa, and we’re actively reaching out to nonprofits and community groups who want to create meaningful, visible impact together through events and partnerships.
We’re also always excited to connect with agents who want to grow with a supportive, collaborative brokerage. If you’re studying for your license or looking for a team that encourages you, equips you and celebrates your wins, we want to work with you! We’re home to relationship-driven, people-focused personalities, the kind of agents who love connecting, communicating, and making clients feel truly cared for. We provide structure, coaching, marketing support and a positive culture where you’re never on your own. If you’d like to collaborate on a community initiative or explore joining our team, reach out through our website at https://www.accentrealtors.com or call us at (918) 665-8559.
