Meet Paula Wofford

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paula Wofford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Paula , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Honestly, once it clicked to me that if I’m not dead yet then I still have purpose. I have always been on search of my purpose in life since I was a kid. I used to get talked about and really just have always been the black sheep of my family and to outsiders. I just would read my bible in private and ask God the questions I had in my heart. I just kept waking up so I kept pushing on. It wasn’t easy, but I just had to keep in mind that no matter how long a situation was going on I could make it through. So I would do my best to speak life to myself and no more hate words. Your words have power so use them to keep you going. When I decided to keep pushing through every situation fighting to find my purpose in life, that’s when God showed me that everything I went through pushed me into purpose. Situations don’t get easier, but I got stronger and more focused on Who was truly getting me through it all and how it all worked together for my good.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first and most important thing for me that I would like to share is at a young age I had to learn and know that I was loved and here on earth for a purpose greater than myself. Once I started to see that I started the search to find out what it was. The second thing is to always stay in search and be a learner. I tried so many things growing up to see truly where my heart would land. Don’t just stick with what you’re good at, step out and take risks.
And for the third thing, have some positive community with you while you are going through this journey of life. It’s always great to have a good mentor, counselor, or just a supportive friend. Walk with the wise and you will become wise.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am looking for amazing people to work with as I start my film journey. I have been praying and hoping for a great set of hands to start working with and learning from. I want people who want to work as a team and truly create meaningful films or images that tell a story. I am still learning a lot, but open to whatever opportunities others have to offer. Help connect me to the right people.
