We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paulette Martini. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paulette below.
Paulette, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose through my own struggles with health. I was so tired of feeling unwell and stuck, like my body was holding me back from the life I wanted to live. That frustration lit a fire in me to figure things out—not just for myself, but for others who feel like they’re in the same fight. Training and nutrition became my way forward, and helping others find that same freedom became my purpose. There’s nothing better than seeing someone realize what their body is capable of when they treat it with care.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a personal trainer, nutritionist, and wellness professional dedicated to helping people move better, feel better, and live more confidently in their bodies. My services cover everything from strength training and mobility work to wellness practices like cupping, scraping, and assisted stretching. I also offer macro coaching to help clients dial in their nutrition and build sustainable habits that support their goals—whether that’s weight loss, muscle gain, or just feeling more energized in their day-to-day lives.
Currently, I have the privilege of running Martini Made while collaborating with some incredible teams. I contract with My Way Fitness as a personal trainer, Body by Katie for wellness services, and recently joined Top Dawg Pitching and Performance, where I work with youth athletes on strength and mobility. Each of these partnerships has allowed me to grow as a professional and expand my reach to help more people.
What makes my work so special to me is the impact it has on the lives of others. There’s something deeply rewarding about helping someone hit a personal best in the gym, recover from an injury, or finally understand how to eat in a way that supports their goals without feeling restrictive. Macro coaching, in particular, is one of my favorite tools because it’s so empowering—clients learn how to fuel their bodies in a way that feels both intentional and flexible, which often leads to breakthroughs not just physically but mentally.
I’m incredibly grateful for the people who’ve helped me along the way. Working with teams like Body by Katie, My Way Fitness, and Top Dawg has been invaluable. These opportunities have allowed me to hone my skills, connect with amazing clients, and push myself to be the best coach I can be.
Right now, I’m especially excited about working with youth athletes at Top Dawg Pitching and Performance. It’s such an honor to play a role in shaping young players’ athletic development and seeing their confidence grow. I’m also dedicated to expanding my wellness services, using a personalized approach to help clients feel their best.
At the core of my work is the belief that movement and wellness are for everyone. Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or looking to fine-tune your performance, my goal is to meet you where you are and give you the tools and support to move forward with confidence and joy.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Adaptability has been a lifesaver—whether it’s managing last-minute schedule changes or switching up a workout plan because a client is sore or working through an injury. I’ve learned that you have to be ready to adjust on the fly and still deliver a great experience. For anyone starting out, my advice is to embrace the unpredictability and find creative ways to make things work. Being adaptable shows your clients that you’re there for them no matter what.
Empathy is another big one. People come to you with different goals, struggles, and stories, and it’s so important to really hear them. Fitness isn’t just about reps and sets—it’s about building trust and helping people feel supported. My advice here? Take the time to listen. Ask questions, and don’t rush to “fix” everything right away. A little understanding goes a long way in building strong connections.
And finally, being open to learning has been a game-changer for me. I’m always finding new ways to improve, whether it’s staying on top of training techniques, learning more about nutrition, or figuring out how to better run my business. If you’re just starting out, my advice is to invest in yourself—whether that’s through courses, certifications, or just finding a mentor who can guide you. The more you grow, the more you’ll be able to help others.
To anyone just getting started: be flexible, stay curious, and never underestimate the power of a genuine connection. At the end of the day, people don’t just want a trainer or coach—they want someone who’s in their corner, ready to help them succeed, no matter what.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client for personal training is someone who’s truly ready to make a change—not just thinking about it, but ready to take those first steps. They want to feel better, move better, and live better, but they also understand it’s going to take effort. It’s not always easy, but they’re willing to show up, put in the work, and trust the process, even on the tough days.
It doesn’t matter their starting point or fitness level—it’s their mindset. I love working with people who are ready to take ownership of their journey. They don’t have to have it all figured out, and they definitely don’t need to be perfect, but they do need to be willing to commit to the process and step outside their comfort zone. That’s where real, lasting change happens.
I really enjoy working with clients who see fitness and wellness as more than a quick fix. The ones who get me excited are those who focus on the bigger picture—feeling stronger, moving better, and building habits that make their everyday lives better. They understand that results don’t show up overnight, but they’re okay with that because they’re in it for the long haul.
For me, the best clients are the ones who see this as a team effort. Progress happens when we work together—when there’s trust, honest communication, and a willingness to adapt as we go. If you’re ready to prioritize yourself, commit to the journey, and embrace the ups and downs along the way, we’ll make a great team.
