Meet Payal Rohatgi

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Payal Rohatgi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Payal, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Optimism comes from my daily yoga journey that helps me connect with my soul. The daily yoga asanas help me understand life better and all the challenges that it throws at me unexpectedly. I believe we all live in the times of extreme competition and the world around us judges us on the basis of our success. But success can be relative to the people who have a different way of looking at life from generic mass point of view. I would recommend everyone do find their schedule to do yoga to find their own way of dealing with their life challenges because we all have our unique stories and we all have our right to live our stories to the best possible way.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an actor in the Indian Film Industry and the link to my website is www.payalrohatgi.com
Kindly go through the information on my background summary as I am well educated from an Engineering University in Ahmedabad. I have started my entrepreneur journey post marriage as my husband is a sportsperson. I guess the journey has been very fulfilling and learning because as an actor u dont deal with layman on a direct level the way you do when u become an entrepreneur who is learning from ground zero level. I have to now work on getting a co-founder in my business as my acting career wants me to get back to it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities/ skills /areas of knowledge ?

As an actor : your acting skill depending on imaginary situations , your personal space, your mindset to differentiate.
As an entrepreneur : your reality check with the buying and selling of your products, your profit margin and your labour reality.

These two are different professions and I am grateful that I could get the opportunity to explore BOTH in my life.

A lot of times actress act as dummy entrepreneurs to make themselves look good in the public eyes but have hardly any knowledge of the challenges that are faced at ground zero level.

I would tell all folks early in their journey that identify your passion and work towards making that passion successful.
Because when you identify your passion and work on it it wont feel like a compulsion but then be practical enough to understand how not to get taken for granted in pursuing your dreams.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes I am looking for folks to partner with and collaborate with. I can do this on both my acting career opportunities and my entrepreneur ambitions to build a ‘Ghar Jaisa Khana- Redefined’ on international scale.

I am looking at working on international scripts as I have the experience and the skill of an Indian actor for more than 2 decades and I think the time is right with my honourable Prime Ministers global image for Indian actors to get the global exposure.

The food startup of mine is the need of the hour in countries outside India due to the immense love for healthy food which has the Indian ingredients in it that are good for digestion and is nutritious.
