Meet Pbp

We recently connected with Pbp and have shared our conversation below.

Hi PBP, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

When walking into a room filled with new people it can be intimidating. I face this head on by following my intuition and beliefs. In one instance when I initially started performing I was immediately called out for being the only one different in the room. Having multiple performers doubt my performance abilities and questioning what I have to offer or bring to the stage. Being questioned about credibility and authenticity pushed me to prove my worth and display my unique talents.
I have taken past life experiences and have blended them in to the culture of Los Angeles by integrating genres and cultures that you’d never seen before. I have built Hot 16’s and LA Lifestyle and have gained momentum by creating spaces for artist, musicians, and street vendors to network within the Los Angles community.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a radio host, event curator, and artist from Northern California who brings Bay Area culture to the Los Angeles underground scene. By bringing Northern and Southern California culture together through my radio show LA Lifestyle on 101.5 FM KQBH I have had the privilege of meeting new people that have open doors for me I never would have thought to be imaginable. By meshing different music genres such as Boom Bap and Phonk in my most recent event Hipvembersesh on November 2, 2024, we were able to introduce new entrepreneurs, small businesses, and vendors that expanded there brands. The in person interactions with various types of people make this special as we grow as a community and as people. You can listen in to my live interviews on 101.5 FM KQBH every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 8-9 PM. Im also bringing back Hot 16’s Fest on July 19th, 2025 with the venue TBA. You can follow my Instagram page @l_a_lifestyle & @painting_bigger_pictures for more information regarding the festival.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Self confidence is key especially in the industry I’m in. There can be confrontations that need to be managed in a respectful manner to maintain good relationships. By setting aside personal opinions I can effectively move forward on a project or event by understanding the multifaceted nature of working with different people, spaces, and platforms. I would advise those to place value on time management and bringing forth your worth to your audience.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

First and foremost I want to thank my family for being there for me from the beginning and believing in me by helping to contribute to equipment, my vision, and my dream. My family gave me the tools needed to grow my brand and develop who I wanted to become as an entrepreneur. My parents taught me to be a leader a quality needed to build something for my self, my fiancé, and our daughter. They have helped me overcome any doubts of the success something I thought I’d never have to deal with. Last but not least I wouldn’t be here without my audience and fan base who tune in and follow my platforms. Thank you to those who support my vision and dreams of being an artist, radio talk show host, and event coordinator. Without all of you this dream would have never became a reality and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means the world to me to have such awesome people in my life to help me grow and develop into the person I have always wanted to be.
