We were lucky to catch up with Peggy Yen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Peggy , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Meeting with more and more people, learning others’ stories.
I don’t overthink when I spend time with others. Mostly I try to be friendly.
But I feel a lot as I am alone, and everything would start hitting me.
Sometimes, It is so upset afterward, while luckily some will sense contentment.
Both make me interested. I am getting more open-minded. Also, nothing would be a big deal after some drinks.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I draw things about human beings, which is always the most meaningful and interesting to me.
Daily activities, social events, and the well-being of people are all my unlimited topics and observations.
My illustration is loose but humane and related to everyone in a casual, quirky way.
Like I love drawing and sketching in my travel sketchbook, especially when I hang out with friends when I am most delightful and carefree. From my jobs, routines, gatherings, and some events, I can strongly feel the connections with other people and listen to myself, which are my favorite inspirations.
Recently, I made a series of three tote bags based on our ordinary life, which we try to keep ourselves more interesting anyway. The designs of totes are Work Day, Grocery Day, and No One Can Stop Me from Vacation. They are fun, a little ironic, and related to each of you.
I believe nothing is more important than our well-being, so Cheers to every balanced day!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first thing that comes to mind is the Occupational Therapy profession, my undergraduate major, and a lifetime impact. I see how special and varied each person is. People have been trying their best to adapt to every change.
Second, I like making friends, which fills my life with different stories and opens my mind easily.
The last one must be the most important drawing and illustration habits. It’s been part of my routines; and one of the ways that I can express my thoughts without hurting people. No matter how I draw, they are mostly the metacognition from days.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am most interested in the collaboration that connects to local communities.
I would love to draw anything that relates to residents and happening stories. It can be a promotion for thought or activity or any cultural event where I can use my illustration as a part of the effort.
Moreover, working with wellness and health-related names has always been my strength, and it is my pleasure to do it, which I believe illustration can be more powerful than anything.
