We were lucky to catch up with Pero Peskir recently and have shared our conversation below.
Pero, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
At the age of 9, due to the war and the breakup of Yugoslavia, I was a refugee myself, from Croatia, and then from BiH. My parents had me at a later age, so as a child I recognized that I would have to rely exclusively on myself. I don’t know why, but during high school I was constantly afraid, I knew that after that, finding a job would follow and if I did poorly, I would get fired. So somewhere I drew a rule for myself – if I know my job and do it well, it will be good for me too. I do the same today.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Pero, I live in Belgrade, with my family, wife and sons. I have my own tattoo studio, and I occasionally visit friends in Hanau, in the studio All Eyes On You. In addition, I am also interested in life casting, casting models, painting, I am a singer in the punk band Zuta Minuta. I am happy because I do the things I like, the way I like and when I want. Since I am most closely related to tattooing, I try to separate industry from art and create my own personal style.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I will stick to tattooing because I think that is where I know the most, but it can certainly be used in other professions as well.
Education, education and only education. I failed to educate myself earlier and in an easy way, but that’s why I achieved it in a difficult way and with a longer time.
I myself had doubts about success, put myself far from it, looked at others as Gods, but over time I changed my mind and realized that I can be at the top level myself.
I noticed that beginners do the same thing today, they consider themselves far from success, and it is within their reach.
At every failure, I asked myself what would have happened if someone I admired had been in my place and had proven himself. Would he have the problem I had then? How can he and I can’t? He knows something that I don’t know, but I will do everything to learn and find a way to progress. Over time, the effort paid off.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
From my father, a self-taught sculptor, I inherited talent, persistence in research.
Watching my mother try so hard to create a more beautiful world for me, I learned that it would be wrong not to continue on the same path, both for myself and for the family and people around me.
