Meet Pete George

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pete George. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation; we’ve shared it below.

Pete, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Imposter syndrome, to me, stems from the pressure to meet external standards. If you put your focus on being of service to others it shifts the spotlight away from personal insecurities to positively impacting others.

Whether I’m performing stand-up comedy on stage or working on a TV or film set, my emphasis lies in making a meaningful contribution to the audience, producer, director, and beyond. This approach cultivates an environment where authenticity can naturally flourish.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
During my college days in Cleveland, I was deeply involved in music, playing in bands. Around this time, I signed up for comedy competitions at the Cleveland Comedy Club, and surprisingly, clinched first place wins my initial three times on stage.

Within two years, I found myself touring across the country.
Simultaneously, I began my acting career, initially in theater and TV commercials. An incredibly fortunate break led me to my first film role in “Shawshank Redemption,” portraying a core-convict alongside Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, and the entire prison ensemble. My time on set lasted two months, which included thirty scenes in the final cut.

Subsequently, I made the leap from Ohio to Los Angeles, immersing myself in various productions while amassing over 10,000 stand-up performances. Presently, I headline at top venues like the Laugh Factory in Las Vegas and Reno, the Hard Rocks, comedy clubs, and corporate events.

My current ambitions revolve around expanding roles in TV and film acting, creating original content, and continuing my stand-up tours. And, yes, finding a girlfriend is also on the agenda!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In the past, I was involved in a self-improvement program that trained me with invaluable skills in critical thinking and making meaningful distinctions in real-world situations. These thinking methods have become a fundamental part of my daily life.

I usually refrain from offering advice, aligning with the sentiment that “Nobody can give advice that’s good for you. They can only give advice that’s good for themselves.” Coaching someone is not the same as giving advise.

So, here’s my advice, lol…

  1. Be a contribution to others.
    2. Live in a space of “what happened” rather than the “story” of what happened.
    3. Place more trust in your own abilities and who you are than in the opinions of others.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m constantly seeking to expand my team in Hollywood. The qualities I prioritize in potential collaborators revolve around honesty and direct communication. Whether it’s actors, directors, casting agents, or any role in TV and film, trust forms the bedrock of our interactions. Without it, everything risks feeling disingenuous.

I adhere to a more traditional Hollywood, valuing an environment where individuals can freely create and express themselves without the fear of causing offense. In my view, restricting free speech and stifling creativity signals the end of the game. And most importantly, let’s not forget to have fun!
