Meet Pete mills

We were lucky to catch up with Pete Mills recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Pete, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Every day I am absolutely transfixed with excitement on how this day will unfold. I feel extremely excited to be productive, creative, and lovingly communicative! As the day progresses, I do fall short and have opportunities to make amends and redirect energy. Being a recording artist there is never enough time in the day to finish anything as music is always evolving so this keeps me on my toes. By the end of the day the purpose of my path is revealed based off my initiative and willingness to take a step back at times thus evolves my purpose for the day!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
THE SWEET KILL is a one-man, post-punk, dark & gothic diviner of millenarian angst. Driven by cold synths, atmospheric guitar, minimal drums, melodic bass, multi-instrumentalist, and velvety crooning baritone, I conduct a cinematic darkwave masterpiece of romantic sorrow echoing the laments of The Cure and Joy Division.

With an extensive background in music creation, I live to create a tapestry of gothic intrigue. Initially, I was a guitarist and didn’t grasp the meaning of being a lead singer until I started to use my voice as a creepy instrument. In 2021, I brought The Sweet Kill to life. To inspire those lost in the shadows of life I unveiled the 2022 album Darkness. The Sweet Kill is the phoenix rising from the ashes of projects past and entering a new era of artistry.

Shadow Zone Sound is my own studio where I record and produces all THE SWEET KILL material. “Undead” and “Forbidden” are the current singles from the upcoming sophomoric release, NOWHERE. This album will be released on Young & Cold Records (Germany) and Shadow Zone Records (USA). Nowhere questions the final analysis of the soul’s journey between life and death, are we eternally floating in the ether or are we never lost and always found?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Fan of Music, player of Music, performer of Music and lover of Life! Enjoy what you do and hopefully make money at it, you’ll never work a day in your life!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Meditate and back down. Not check out and pretend everything is perfect but course correct the area in which there is conflict! This approach is counter intuitive to the ego however, practically speaking, I can’t make effective decisions and deliver performances of significance if I am not able to quietly assess the situation and come up with a game plan.
