Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Peter D. Baker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Peter, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I remind myself that we live in an age where an unqualified charlatan can win the 2016 presidential election so there’s no reason I shouldn’t worry about telling people about my books.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I write books and teach people how to do so because story telling is fundamental to the human experience. I got the second book in my series coming out this Halloween.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My autodidactism was extremely important for research purposes, along with my autistic proclivity to develop deep interests in things. Aside from that, learning about publishing even a little bit is important.
Above all else, if you want to write, you will have to eventually start writing and not worrying about the minutiae. Like your software, or whatever.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is that book.
