Meet Peter Grebenyuk

We were lucky to catch up with Peter Grebenyuk recently and have shared our conversation below.

Peter, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

With anything you do there’s always going to be haters, and that’s simply a fact of life. It’s difficult when you’re starting out and you’re not used to hate, but after a while it no longer affects you. The biggest thing for me is to focus on my journey and know what I need to do to fulfill my goals. When I first started singing everyone told me that I would never be able to sing, and that I’m better off finding someone else to sing my music. After years of hard work and practice I’ve managed to build my singing skills to the point where it has lead me to getting hired to play in a national touring band called The Red Elvises. Self belief is the one thing that has lead me to achieving everything that I have achieved in my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Currently I’m touring with The Red Elvises for the summer which has been an amazing time. When I’m home I have a band called Lorraine-Dietrich where I record and release my own original music. I recently released my second album with Lorraine-Dietrich titled “Swim For Shore” on May 10th of this year. We’ll be recording and releasing more music as soon as I return home from tour. We’re also planning on performing more shows outside of the KC area to continue building our brand regionally.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first important quality is self belief and confidence. You can get anywhere in life as long as you believe that you can achieve anything that you desire. It doesn’t matter what people think or say about you. What matters is what you think and say about yourself. Having confidence in your own abilities is key to great success regardless of what other people think. The second quality that I think is super important is resilience. In any business there’s always going to be challenges constantly thrown at you. Sometimes you’ll have to deal with challenges within business as well as life challenges simultaneously. I often have to think for a few days before I come up with a lasting solution for any problem. One thing I tell myself is that I will always find a solution to any problem regardless of how difficult it is. The last quality I would say is super important is consistency. You always have to be working towards your goals on a daily basis. I strive to be constantly busy every day of every week. Every goal you set will be achieved as long as you actively work towards it everyday.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I’m super lucky and grateful that my parents have supported my career from the very beginning. They have advised me in many ways, and they have always pointed me in the right direction. My mother having a doctorate degree in philosophy has been able to explain to me why things are the way they are, and how I should go by it. One of the philosophies that have been engrained is that everything happens for a reason and that all challenges lead to a brighter future. One of the qualities my father has instilled in me is to always be busy working towards your goals. My parents always shared about the sacrifices they made when they moved to the US from Russia in 1999, and how they essentially came to the US with nothing. It was inspiring to see how my parents built a whole new life in the US from the ground up when they initially came with nothing. I feel that I also can build something great just as my parents did when they immigrated to the US.
