Meet Petra Persolja

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Petra Persolja. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Petra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I’ve always believed that purpose isn’t something you stumble upon. It’s something you uncover by taking action, reflecting, and daring to step into the unknown. For me, the piano was the first signpost. From the age of six, it wasn’t just an instrument, it was a voice, a way to express what words often couldn’t. But purpose became truly clear when I left Slovenia to study in the U.S. Each move, from the East Coast to Hawaii, and finally to the West Coast taught me resilience, courage, and the importance of carving my own path. Over time, I realized my purpose wasn’t simply to play music, it was to create moments that connect people, elevate emotions, and transform memories into experiences they’ll treasure forever.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I perform as The Platinum Pianist, specializing in weddings, corporate events, private parties and other luxury experiences. What excites me most is the freedom to adapt music in ways that feel truly personal. I love transforming a rock anthem into a romantic ballad or weaving together medleys that capture a client’s story. Each event is different, each couple is unique, and every performance is an opportunity to create an atmosphere that’s elegant, meaningful, and unforgettable.

2025 has been particularly exciting. Beyond settling into Southern California with my family, I’ve been honored to receive a contract award for San Diego International Airport’s inaugural Musicians Program. Additionally I was the winner of the Tokyo Golden Classical Music Award, finalist for California Wedding Day’s Best Live Music, named Top 10 Event Specialist by City & Beach Lifestyle, etc.

Among others I performed at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Waldorf Astoria in Dana Point, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Palazzo in OC, Marriott Marquis in San Diego, Fairmont Grand Del Mar and numerous others. My goal is always to blend my classical training with the joy and intimacy of live events, making every moment feel both polished and deeply personal.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The first is embracing what makes you different. Your unique perspective is your greatest asset. Don’t try to fit into someone else’s mold. Lean into what sets you apart, and let it shine in your work.

The second is dedication and discipline. Talent is only part of the equation, while consistency, focus, and hard work will help you reach your goals.

The third is resilience. There will be tough days, setbacks, and moments when quitting seems easier. My parents told me I could quit piano, but only on a good day, and that advice has stayed with me. Everyone faces challenges, but growth comes from pushing through them.

For anyone early in their journey, I’d say: focus on these qualities, nurture them, and don’t be afraid to take risks. They’ll pay off in ways you can’t imagine.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I believe in leaning into your strengths. That’s where you shine most brightly and can create real impact. That said, being aware of your weaker areas is important, especially if they affect your work. You don’t have to master every skill, but understanding where you might need support allows you to collaborate effectively, delegate when needed, and stay focused on what you do best.

For example, when I transitioned from classical performance to private events, I leaned heavily on my musical strengths while also learning the business side of luxury event entertainment. I didn’t need to become a marketing expert overnight, but I committed to understanding every aspect of running a successful business: talking directly with clients to assess their vision and budgets, crafting clear contracts, maintaining a polished website, and keeping social media engaging and effective for prospective clients. By approaching the business strategically while refining my artistry, I was able to grow my brand exponentially, delivering unforgettable performances while building a professional, sustainable business that reflects my values and vision.
