Meet Peyton Moffitt

We recently connected with Peyton Moffitt and have shared our conversation below.

Peyton, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I never understood imposter syndrome when I was younger but as i’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how common it is as you enter the professional work force. Sometimes it felt like I wasn’t old enough to be in this position but as I started to network more, I found out that I knew more than some agents twice my age. As I started to do more business and learn more I frequently would come across situations where I could finally say I knew the answer or I was able to help more seasoned agents than myself. That is what really helped me overcome the imposter syndrome, everyone is trying to figure out the world and their life, if you keep learning and getting after it, you’ll gain more confidence and know that you belong where you are.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a Realtor in the Central Florida area. I really enjoy what I do because it is so exciting when someone reaches out who didn’t think they would ever be able to buy real estate, and I’m able to help them figure out a plan to make it possible. Its even better when they do it with way less money than they thought they needed as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve always been a pretty hard worker, I use to clean my neighbors houses when I was 9 so I had some spending money haha! I think that is a skill that really helped me succeed in Real Estate, I didn’t let the bumps in the road discourage me. I also feel like overall, I’m a positive person and that is important when in this field since we mainly hear all the negative things. I also went to school for marketing and sales and I learned a lot about negotiations and this has helped me save my buyers and sellers thousands of dollars!

If you are just starting out, I think it’s important to really learn yourself and build your business how you like to operate. Don’t try and fit the “mold”. That was a really hard lesson for me, I was so uncomfortable talking to people at the beginning because I was trying to be so professional but you have to learn to show your personality as well, It’ll make you way more confident if you can be yourself.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

No Complaining Rule By Jon Gordon was very inspiring to me. I “get to” work instead of “have to” , it is truly a blessing to be in my position and I need to remember that every day. If you have anything to complain about, try to turn it into a solutions instead, don’t just mindlessly complain because it’ll bring you down and you won’t be able to perform efficiently. I really enjoyed Gordon’s visual with the energy bus, Don’t let energy vampires on your bus or it’ll effect your whole team. This is really something I use every day when i’m meeting clients, friends or even co workers. You have to stay positive so don’t let the energy vampires bring you down, choose who you work with carefully.
