Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to PHAZE GAWD. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
PHAZE, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found purpose in providing a platform not only for myself but for the creative community in my city and beyond. Whether it be collaborating on music projects or sharing the stage with other talented acts I never wanted to limit the spotlight just to myself when I knew there was enough shine for everyone who truly wanted it. The lack of guidance and a music market in the Charlotte scene led to a lot of trials and errors so In order to combat that for the next generation of artist I wanted to be that person people could look towards and reach out to if they ever needed help or had a question I’m always grateful to be able to give someone some form of direction.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Tony P the Phaze Gawd or just PHAZE GAWD, I’m a national recording artist and music producer. I plan my own live performances and events, direct and act in films, and host the podcast (MartTalkCLT)
For me, the most exciting part of what I do is performing live. It’s crazy connecting with the audience in real time, feeling their energy, and sharing my passion for music. Creating content and collaborating with fellow creatives consistently gives me a fresh perspective on new sounds to stay current
Empowering people is at the core of what I do. Whether it’s through my music, events, or community-based initiatives like the Tap In Tuesday open mic series I host at one of my favorite bottle shops “Bart’s Mart”, I aim to inspire and uplift others. Meeting new people and building connections within the artistic community is a crucial part of my creative process.
As we move forward there’s a lot in the pipeline. I’ve got new music dropping in the spring/summer, and I’m gearing up for performances across the country.
At the end of the day, I’m about creating experiences, fostering connections, and empowering the people around me to succeed.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my journey, the three qualities that have been instrumental for me. Firstly, gratitude plays a significant role; it’s about appreciating every step, big or small, which keeps me grounded and the energy positive. Secondly, remaining coachable has been a game-changer. It’s the mindset of always being open to learning, embracing feedback, and using it as a tool for continuous growth. Lastly, professionalism has set me apart—treating my craft seriously in every aspect, from my approach to how I collaborate. For those starting, my advice is to understand your artistic intentions clearly, stay flexible to adapt to the journey’s twists and turns, find a balance in collaboration without losing your essence, and prioritize clear communication.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
As an music artist, the profound teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the insightful guidance from “The Alchemist” have been transformative. Embracing the Bhagavad Gita’s philosophy of detached action has allowed me to focus on the creative process, navigating my musical journey with resilience and authenticity. “The Alchemist” has played a pivotal role in encouraging me to follow my heart, heed the omens, and stay true to my unique artistic vision. Integrating these philosophies has not only shaped a purposeful and authentic approach but has also helped me recognize and embrace the meaningful signs and omens along the way, guiding me towards continual growth and fulfillment in my musical endeavors.
