We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Phillip Crawford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Phillip, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose through God and helping others in a positive manner, in any way possible. I have an aura that naturally attracts people, and I want to help as many as I can during my time on Earth. Having come close to death with COVID, I witnessed the impact I’ve had on others. I was blessed to survive, knowing not everyone had that second chance during the health crisis of 2020.
My goal is to help over 100,000 children globally through my new children’s book, Mekahi and Hayley’s Big Adventure: Building Wealth in Two Cities, now available on Amazon. Achieving this would fulfill my purpose. It’s a mission greater than myself or anyone else, as we all have a divine purpose to serve. God created us uniquely in His image, and I’m thankful for the abilities He has bestowed upon me. My task has been to nurture and refine them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m excited to share my journey and current endeavors with you. My mission is rooted in a deep desire to inspire and support others, a purpose that is reflected in my work. I am an author, entrepreneur, and advocate for positive change, focusing particularly on empowering young minds.
Professionally, my most recent project is my children’s book, Mekahi and Hayley’s Big Adventure: Building Wealth in Two Cities. This book aims to educate children about financial literacy in an engaging and accessible way, encouraging them to think critically about wealth and success from a young age. It’s a passion project that combines storytelling with valuable life lessons, hoping to impact over 100,000 children worldwide.
What excites me most about this venture is its potential to shape future generations. I strongly believe that by instilling values of financial awareness and responsibility early on, we can equip young readers with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. This isn’t just a book; it’s a catalyst for meaningful conversations between parents and children about money and life skills.
In addition to my writing, I’m constantly exploring new ways to expand my reach and impact. This includes workshops, speaking engagements, and collaborations with educational organizations. I’m also developing plans to extend my book’s themes into interactive formats, such as apps or videos, to further engage with a tech-savvy audience.
Ultimately, my brand is about empowerment and enlightenment. I strive to create content that is not only enjoyable but also transformative, helping readers understand their unique potential and fostering a lifelong love for learning and self-improvement. Through my work, I hope to continue making a positive difference and inspire others to discover and fulfill their own purposes.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities have been particularly impactful: resilience, empathy, and continuous learning. These have not only guided me through challenges but have also shaped my approach to helping others.
Resilience: Overcoming adversity has been a critical part of my journey. The ability to bounce back from setbacks and remain persistent in the pursuit of my goals has driven my success. For those early in their journey, developing resilience involves embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and maintaining a positive mindset even when faced with difficulties. Building a strong support network and practicing self-care are also vital in strengthening resilience.
Empathy: Understanding and connecting with others on a deep level has been invaluable, particularly in fields focused on helping and inspiring people. Empathy allows you to meet others where they are, facilitating meaningful relationships and collaborations. To cultivate empathy, actively listen to others’ stories, seek diverse perspectives, and practice putting yourself in others’ shoes. These experiences will enhance your ability to relate to and support those around you.
Continuous Learning: The pursuit of knowledge has always been a cornerstone of my journey. Staying curious and committed to learning allows you to adapt to new situations and evolve professionally and personally. For newcomers, invest time in reading, taking courses, and seeking mentors who can provide guidance and insights. Embrace a lifelong learning mentality and remain open to new ideas and technologies to keep yourself relevant and prepared for future opportunities.
My advice for those starting their journeys is to embrace these qualities and focus on personal development alongside professional goals. By cultivating resilience, empathy, and a love for learning, you’ll equip yourself with the tools needed to navigate the challenges ahead and achieve lasting success.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely, surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can be incredibly enriching both personally and professionally. These connections foster a collaborative environment where information, support, and inspiration are freely exchanged, leading to meaningful growth and development for everyone involved.
Building these relationships can be a rewarding process. Seek out communities, networks, or groups that align with your values and goals. Engage in conversations, attend events, and cultivate genuine connections with those who share similar aspirations. By doing so, you create a dynamic space where mutual value is added, elevating each person’s journey.
Remember, successful relationships are reciprocal, where both parties contribute and benefit. Whether it’s exchanging knowledge, offering support, or collaborating on projects, these interactions enrich your experience and advance collective goals. When like-minded individuals come together, the potential for innovation, fulfillment, and shared success is limitless.
I’m always looking to collaborate with investors, entrepreneurs, authors, coaches, and overall just good people.
