Meet Phillyblunts

We recently connected with Phillyblunts and have shared our conversation below.

Phillyblunts, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my life itself. I was born with a heart defect which included a hole in my heart and a hole in one of my heart valves. I grew up having to see a cardiologist every year since I was a little boy. My mom was always told I would need to have surgery to fix the issues before I became an adult so my heart and body could grow the proper way, or when I got older life itself would be even more difficult to breathe and do the things I love like play basketball. I had the surgery to fix the issues when I was about 13 years old. Things were a success thanks to God, so I was able to live my life as a “normal” kid and do what I loved. I grew up not being able to ride roller coasters, I couldn’t play football because of my condition, but my drive and love of being an active kid never slowed down. Still to this day as an adult I am able to be active and do any and all physical activities. I credit that to my relientness and my mental toughness to never think I am at odds or less than what I am. There’s some other things in my life that have made me stay resilient but I must say that was the foundation and what motivated me to push through anything else growing up in this life of mine.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a music artist and actor who loves to groove. Groovy Goods who me and what I represent.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say the 3 main qualities or skills that were impactful in my journey would be my determination, my perseverance, and really ny commitment to never give up on what my goal or dream is.

My advice to others who are early in their journey would be to know that you really want to embark on that journey, and to always know it will be ups and downs but if you really want it, giving up is never an option.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

Over the last year I’ve really learned how to be patient.
